Mets 2024 Season

I guess I still am infected by the Wilpon virus. I saw the worries about the tax and the budget and I thought Nimmo was gone and we were done. Cohen just said, F that. I love this guy, he’s going all in.

So happy Nimmo is returning. He is a team first guy and am pretty sure returning to the Mets was his first choice. Fortunate that we can now afford to keep our players. Hopefully will be the first long term career Met since David Wright. Robertson was the guy we needed last year. We still need another starter. The National League will be very competitiv.

Andrew, I remember you all over Robertson when he ended up with the Fillies last year. I laughed when I saw this and thought of your comments Immediately. No idea really if these are the “right” moves but I love having an Owner in there swinging for the fences. NLEast in particular is going to be a war.

DeGone's comments at the Ranger Intro Presser were BS. If he said I signed here because of the 5 years/big bucks/no state taxes, I would have been satisfied by his honesty. But saying his goal of winning a WS and the Rangers had the same vision. (Rangers won 68 last year and haven't sniffed playoffs in a while.) An insult to Uncle Steve and the Mets.

What do folks expect players to say at an introductory press conference?

It's pretty much the same script everywhere: you talk about everything but the money and dangle a little hope to the fan base to sell tickets and get eyes on the TV.

Cohen is willing to blow out his wallet the next 2-3 years to remain competitive. He clearly has F U money. He could care less about payroll taxes. After that hopefully some cheaper internal resources come on, as the older guys roll off and I expect him to land some superstars to fill out the roster.

I am in Las Vegas for a couple of days, I get back to my room searching for the St. John’s score. Eh, St. John’s couldn’t have played well looking at that score and then bang up pops Senga to the Mets! Oh man, I have heard this guy is pretty good and I won’t lie no one knows how good he might be including me.

But my God what a time to be alive for a Mets fan. Our Owner is willing to go all out to win TODAY and in the FUTURE. Remember in two years Verlander and Scherzer off the books or if they are still producing who knows. Cohen is shrewd. No idea if these are the RIGHT moves but I am all in to find out. Anyone who survived the Wilpons and there fake aim Low signings deserves this.

Here's what Mike Lupica (never liked him) thinks about Cohen and his spending and how the mets are the most improved team in Baseball.

Still need a power bat after Alonzo. Was a problem last year and they still haven't rectified it. Bring back Conforto or how about a flyer on Gary Sanchez at DH.
