The Johnnies are ranked 12, they are home, lots of motivation to win and everyone is healthy. Let’s show the country, (and some high level HS recruits) THE JOHNNIES BELONG. Ask yourself this…… what do you think the headlines will read if they don’t beat Marquette tomorrow? Not very complimentary, I’m sure, and you can guess what they will say, especially the NY press.

We have no wins against ranked teams. This is where all of our doubters are getting the fuel for their fire from. You have teams in the SEC , Big 12 and Big 10 who aren’t ranked but have multiple wins over ranked teams. That’s why this game is so important for us to win. Is it a must win, no. We have a path to achieve our goals regardless but it’ll just make the noise from the fans, teams and conferences where these unranked teams have better wins get louder and louder. And , quite frankly I don’t want to give them the opportunity. Let’s win tomorrow and just shut everyone the hell up!!! Because, let me tell you, if we were to ever lose tomorrow and Friday the barbarians will be at the gate. Let’s silence all these f’ks and put this game away tomorrow. Let’s go Johnnie’s!!!!

I understand that. In these other conferences, their teams are playing a top 25 team every other game. I get it. We don’t get as many opportunities especially since it’s a down year for the Big East. That’s why it’s even more imperative that we take care of business from here on out.

If we make a deep March run, that's where some kids have their NBA draft stock soar. Not saying that will happen, but remembered how Carlos Beltran hit 7 or 8 playoff homers in his walk year and changed his trajectory in terms of interest and $$$.

The only memory I have of Beltran is watching him strike out on 3 pitches against Wainwright and the Cardinals that sent them instead of the Mets to the World Series.

It wasn’t that long ago that I spent time examining the conference schedule looking for possible wins. I’m definitely in a “must enjoy” state of mind.

Ideally the book would get close to a 50/50 split but rarely does that actually happen. The book just wants to post as efficient a number as possible. They'd be willing to have exposure on one side if they are confident in the number they post.

The more confident they are in the number the more risk they'd be willing to take. For example, point spreads in NFL games late in the season won't move all that much even if a majority of the action is coming in on one side. It's because they're confident in the data and processes they have which arrived at that number. On the opening night of the college basketball season, books will hang an opener for Canisius vs Miami OH but won't have a great deal of confidence in that number and a light breeze in one direction will be enough to get the books to change it.

There's obviously a lot more that goes into it (Books know who the sharps are and may adjust lines based on their action) but the bottom line is books will post set or move the line to be whatever they think is the most efficient at the time, they don't post lines trying to get action on one side or the other.

Also depends on where the money comes from. They will take action from the public until the cows come home. But, sharps come in on one side and they take notice and move lines almost immediately.

The RJ concerns/trashing even prior to the game? My people have short memories. Was it not RJ’s drive and timely shots that gave the team the opportunity to win, but of course the RJ bashes have to get a word in. Of course nothing is said about another player who had his typical 2-10 shooting game cause as posters like to say….. his shot looks so pretty.

In terms of coach Smart, the only credit he seems to get here is his ability to recruit? Well how about his ability to build a program and not go into the transfer program for the majority of his players. How about the programs continuity? Fortunately for Marquette, he will be there for a long time and my guess is he will continue to enjoy success he has had. Last year he lost two of the leagues best yet he’s back on top of the league again? Not to mention some marquee wins early on.

I’m greatly looking forward to this game. Marquette is a legit program with a very good coach and some great talent and most importantly for this program a number in front of their name. But while others, who call themselves die hard fans, will say……. “Well, it would be great if we win, and I expect them to but it’s not a must win wah wah wah”I’m am proud to stand by my thought that if this team wants to prove it’s legit to all on its home court, There’s no other way to put it….
