This will be a battle need to at least split with these guys so taking the home game here is huge, will be a true test of just how good we are. Marquette will be best team we played yet this year, I think rebounding is where our advantage is. Think we win this game in a close one 78-74.

Here’s why THIS GAME IS A MUST WIN….

1. Sure the Johnnie’s have a great record, play a great defense and are having a fine year, but word on the street and in hoops circles is …..WHO HAVE THEY BEATEN? There’s not a marquee win on the schedule.

2. If you want to put this team up against the league’s best teams as a potential league champ….YOU MUST WIN THIS GAME AT HOME.

3. You want to give New Yorkers a reason to show up. To bring back a dormant fan base and the casual fans as well, YOU MUST WIN THE BIG GAME. Finally an opportunity to shine in Macy’s window as Looie liked to say and put the Johnnies back on the map.

Yes boys and girls, this is the BIG one. Beating mediocre teams like, PC, Georgetown, even Xavier are all fine but if you want your name mentioned with the “big boys” you have to beat a BIG boy in your own gym. Making the Dance is great but if this team aspires to more then that it must come through in the big game.

Go Johnnies!!!!!!!

NYers don’t need any more reasons to show up. There were 19k there today and the place was absolutely rocking! The Johnnies are back and NYC is back with them. That was very clear to anyone there today.

I mean, I want to win Tuesday, but even this is extreme for me.

As far as giving people a reason to show up -- how about this.

Even when Seton Hall is good, they don't open the "upper bowl" for most all their games. Which means their "sellout" is 10,000. Obviously this year they are drawing less than my son's CYO games, but even when they've had good teams, they are in the 8-10K range.

We are basically get double that for Big East games at the Garden. Double. New Yorkers are showing up, and will continue to show up regardless of what happens Tuesday.

Eye test tells me with our defense we can beat anyone. Our extended droughts on offense can lead to losing to anyone. Both are true regardless of Tuesday nights result. Need to stop crying wolf with the must win game scenarios.

My train from Great Neck was packed with fans on the way in and the conductor kept saying “Let’s Go Johnnies” over the loudspeaker every stop.

The fans are bought in already.

Silly. This is not a must win. Lose and we’re still ranked. Enough of the must-win nonsense on this board, please.

This puts the “silly” in Silly Donovan.

If we don’t beat Marquette and UConn at the Garden, watch those numbers drop. New Yorkers are tickled.

I totally understand being apprehensive about our resume without a win that you can really hang your hat on

But we are 19-3, 19k+ were in MSG today. Rick Pitino is our coach. There is significant buzz about this program. Fans have bought in. The idea that our future hinges on this game completely is a mirage

If we lose this game Tuesday, just three days later we play @UConn. What if UConn beats MQ tonight? They’re right back in the top 20 perhaps. Mission remains. Keep battling
