#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

Incorrect.
I think as long we can hold serve at home we’ll finish in first place. If we can’t hold serve at home that’s just an extra game that we have to get back on the road. It’s going to be tough to win at UConn and/or at Marquette. Not impossible, obviously, but very tough. I’d rather just win tomorrow and hold serve at home.

having a preference over which games you'd rather win is fine. Of course there is an added degree of difficulty on the road

the rebuttals come from phrasing it like tomorrow is our only chance to make it happen. It is not.

We ALSO have no way of knowing what MQ/UConn's other games in conference will play out like. We don't know what record wins the conference. So there are a few variables at play

Tomorrow is not our only chance just makes the road much tougher in my opinion. Tougher than most people on here think. Even though we’ve done well so far, winning on the road in the Big East is tough.

Dk or anyone know how many tickets are remaining?

No reason why it can't be pack, bring the kids, or let someone watch them.

This is a top 12 game, let's pack MSG.

No excuse not to.

This is definitely true*

**if you don’t know math**
I assure you my math is just fine. I guess you are counting on beating UConn and Marquette on the road. That’s a tough one. The team that has the best chance to win the conference as Paultzman has mentioned, must “hold serve at home” and win the games you should win away of course allowing for a hiccup or two.

Bottom bowl only 1 pair and 1 trio of seats not counting resale and handicapped seats. But lots of seats in 200s, looks like they haven't opened up the top half of them. 300s and 400s won't be sold unless something drastic happens once folks see both teams in top 12 and react accordingly.

btw I can confirm with 100% certainty there won't be an ICE raid on msg Tuesday so that's a safe place for any fan
May be safer if there was one?😂👍 They would have to stop serving all that spicey food and some stomachs would be sparred.

Yea if we lose tomorrow Marquette and St Johns will both be 10-2 in Big East, with 8 conference games left including a rematch in Milwaukee in early March.

I am not sure where this idea is coming from that our only hope of winning the Big East crown is to win tomorrow. But I have an inkling of an idea
In reality this a is a huge game

A win gives us a 2 game lead, and a little separation, a loss and we're tied.
That's a 2 game swing.

That's really disappointing.

Back in the 80s there'd be 18k easily.

Oh well, I'll be there.

Bottom line is this….. if you and others had the balls to stand by the team, you would just go for it and call it a “MUST WIN” Anything less is being a wimpy fan. I am really shocked that so many in a fan base who claim to have faith in this team just won’t hold them to the standard they deserve.
You know you can say "bottom line" to start as many posts as you want. It doesn't make it actually the bottom line. What it really is just the opinion of one man

Which is precisely my point, your idea that we must win tomorrow to win the big east is an opinion. It is not based in fact. You continue to dress it up like it is though, which is puzzling to me.

As for having the balls to stand by the team, it is ironic because you're the one who doesn't have the balls.

You're so f'n scared of going into Milwaukee and Storrs and winning a basketball game, that you have convinced yourself that winning tomorrow at home is our chance to win the big east. I actually believe this team can win any game, which is why I am not putting all of my eggs in tomorrows basket. We could win or we could lose. Regardless I believe this team will proceed on with a shot to win the big east regular season crown no matter what the final score is. And that is the difference between me and you on this topic.

And stop hiding behind Paultz and him saying "holding serve at home" and winning some of the road is the recipe for success. When Paultz says that, it doesn't mean he is DEMANDING the team to go 10-0 at home in conference play. It is just a goal for the team to protect home court as much as possible. I guarantee if we lose a home game tomorrow Paultz won't proceed with the sky is falling act that you probably already have saved in your drafts

Let me clarify something for you, I’m not scarred of the team going into Milwaukee or Storrs but they are difficult places to play, both of those teams are good and I’m sure we are not getting the benefit of any calls late in the game which has certainly (and please don’t deny it) been the case at the Garden.
The only thing I am confident of in any away game is that the this team puts itself in a position to win. It’s all a matter of if that last shot drops through the hoop. Outside of the Hall and G Town of late, this team rarely blows anyone out.

In terms of hiding behind Paultz, I just thought his expression of “holding serve” was appropriate. But hey, I guess when you are losing an argument you’ll say anything to detract from the issue at hand.

This is a very strange take I have, but I feel more confident about our last game of the season against them than tomorrow night. We play Seton Hall on March 1st then have a full week off to rest up and Rick to game plan/watch tape/prep. Marquette, on the other hand, plays @UConn three days prior.

Win this one and I think we sweep 'em.
