Xavier 1st Game

I really like Amar. At one point in the game he grabbed a couple of rebounds, made a steal and rolled off a pick to score. This kid is not a bit afraid to pop his three point shot or even mix it up with a center inside. Nice minutes today.

I'd like to see him get more touches after he pops off those screens. That way he doesn't feel like he has to shoot every time he get that opportunity. He wasn't completely set either shot. They weren't bad shots at all, but I know he is a much better shooter than that.

I also would like to see us get him some iso touches down low. I find it hard to believe a kid as big and coordinated as him doesn't have the ability to make a few back-to-the-basket moves to at least draw fouls and help with spacing.

Jordan had an incredibly clutch 3 in the waning minutes of the game, a huge momentum swing, and so important to keeping Xavier at bay at that point in the game.

Amazing.

No doubt, an outstanding win...but Lavin has to quit jacking off and end the Balamou experiment already.

You know, he has so few options when Obekpa (or Pointer) cannot play. JDR has been tried and failed. Christian Jones tried and failed. Amar cannot guard certain guys. So Lavin has (so far successfully) had to milk minutes out of Balamou where we can maintain defensive intensity and get a body who can actually grab a few rebounds. Balamou is of very limited value on the offensive end, with just aobut everyone else we play can score. If it means Balamou being on the floor more in the first half to conserve a gimpy Obekpa for valuable second half minutes or a different look using Amar, I'm in. We are winning, and if Balamou's contributions as described herein are part of it, I'm fine with limited stat lines from him.

So many positives to take away from the game, and so many contributions. True team win. As one poster (I forget who) accurately stated, it was nice to see Jordan keep it together and come through when not having one of his best games. Those who watch every game, as most here do, know that Jordan's track record is one of "feast" or "famine". When he gets going early, usually he plays really well throughout. And when he starts bad, the game is usually a disaster. Today he had tough goings for most of the game, but didn't really try to force too much and made some huge plays down the stretch. Let's hope this is evidence of some real maturity.

Thank you Chris Mack taking the stupid timeout course that lavin has taken. With just over a minute left and xavier just scored a basket to make it a 3 point game he did what we all hate what lavin does... Called a timeout off the made basket to stop any momentum xavier was building. Fans getting into it etc. probably not the play lavin drew up but we take the shot clock down to 1 and Jordan hits the 3. Game over. Why do coaches do that?? Unless there's an injury I dont get it especially with several possesions still left in the game. Thank you Mack for that timeout. We all would be chastising lavin for doing the same thing

And mean gene. I'm sorry to call u out here but It is so difficult to read your posts when the other team makes a run or 2 to get back in a game. I know what your posts are gonna say before I read them during the other teams run. This is basketball. Runs happen all the time. Take the good with the bad and hope the good outweighs the bad. I understand you are probably very emotional watching the games and are a passionate fan but try not to be too negative when we still have a lead or the game got tied up. Again. Sorry to call u out on this but it's frustrating to read those posts. I'm sure you are a huge fan so enjoy this mini run we r on. When we lose a decent sized lead and we still come out on top it builds character.

Tremendous win
Kids showed great heart
Just one question - how the hell does JDR play at all let alone start the 2nd half?

Come on. That's Monday morning quarterbacking. Stainbrook is a huge body whose future will be first in Europe and eventually on "The Biggest Loser". If you saw the St. Mary's game, JDR did a really nice job banging away. It was well worth the gamble, and it just didn't work out.

No one fouled out, and we won. I'll take it. Felix might front Smith and Dom cheats off his guy to make the block or maybe pick up offensive foul. Coach gonna show a bunch of looks no doubt. Always enough to get the board nuts.

No problem Bro. I've been a Johnnies fan since 1979 and there's nothing I want more than to see this team win. Like I said to Paul, I'm the worst type of fan, I lose my mind when I watch my teams play (St. Johns, Nets, Giants, Islanders and SF Giants). You should have seen me during the Giants Super Bowls, The Islanders Cups and SF Giants world Series wins, Lol! Let's take Georgetown now!!
