Xavier 1st Game

Fun game. Very fun game to watch.

Much praise to Dom for everything.
Phil hitting big three's early in second half.
CO with some big boards late.
Jordan with really quick hands on defense very late; and the biggest 3 of the game
Amar played tough
Branch was effective.
Harrison gutting it out despite the bum calf.

Just a good overall game by the team.

I think DLo is much better than he was when he injured it earlier this year. DLo made some nice drives and plays. I think he will still be not 100% for gtown but after that I think he will be good

I don't care how good Pointer has been playing, he's the least fundamentally sound player as there is in college basketball.

Quote of the day.

He still is. He plays out of control way too much. You can't deny that. I guess we just have to take the good with bad as long as the good continues to outweigh the bad.

You're just flat out wrong, sorry but I'm not sorry.

Not the only thing he's wrong about lol. Gene gave up on this one when Xavier tied it

Yes I did and I'm happy I was wrong. They were just killing us inside but then they stopped going inside and started shooting jump shots.

A Haiku celebrating 3rd win in a row.

A top fifty win
Sir Dom and Jamal Branch star
see ya Ricky Smith

Nice win guys. Go get'em!

It wasn't simply that they stopped going inside it was that our guys were playing effective denial.
Enjoy the win. This was quality, team basketball from the coach down.

I am so glad that Sheed struggled but compared to earlier in the season, seemed less reckless (only saw 2nd half)--this could be as important as any hot game he has had of late. Don't think he had a turnover in the 2nd half. "Let the game come to him" type of performance?

After that "disappearance" and that tweet...he seems to have kept a lower profile and focused more on his game and even when not playing so well, he didn't lose his marbles and shined on those crucial late game plays.

Can't help but think this kid has only just scratched the surface in terms of what he is capable of doing on a court.

We have to sweep them now.
Gene, we all knew at 3-6 we needed to win a whole bunch of our remaining games. For the first time I feel like we are in the hunt. I hope injury does not ruin the season for these kids.

Really? Did you miss the 4-5 steals we had on their attempted entry passes? How about the half-dozen deflections? Did you miss our guys busting their asses to stay front their bigs the entire night? Did you miss Amar absolutely pinning Jalen Reynolds to his hip on every board?

Teams don't voluntarily stop going inside on us.

I don't know about you but we seem to be playing with confidence, not panicking once Xavier got close. That's a sign of a good team. Lots of substitution by Lavin didn't hurt.
Thought Jordan was sleep walking but turned his game around, especially with a steal from behind with 3:09 left. And then a clutch three pointer, another steal and alley oop pass to seal the well earned victory.

And how about the coaching staff? Lavin clearly out-coached Chris Mack today.

Are there any additional injuries I should know about?

Only to the morale of the Lavin detractors owwwww owwwww!!!
Xavier only had one home loss coming into tonight.
