Xavier 1st Game

We have to sweep them now.
Gene, we all knew at 3-6 we needed to win a whole bunch of our remaining games. For the first time I feel like we are in the hunt. I hope injury does not ruin the season for these kids.

Are there any additional injuries I should know about?

DLO took a tumble in the first half and came up a little gimpy. He played the second half but seemed a little off. I think he will be fine by next game.

Big win... congratulations to Harrison, Pointer and all for a hard fought win.

Don't forget Branch with 11 HUGE POINTS

And that was in the first half. Way to go, didn't force a a shot.
For a guy who can't shoot, thats quite an exhibition Dom put on. He's not as out of control as some say. Stuff works for him that would not work for others.

I'm happy that they won today but how much does this game mean if we lose to them at home?

Can we enjoy the win for at least 5 minutes !!!!

Thanks JSJ - Eckhard Tolle's the power of the "Now" - maybe he's available for a seminar for some of we posters. A great rest of the afternoon. Having missed the game I wonder if there's a TV replay where?

Felix has to be better on offense than he is showing...he can't have gotten this far in the sport with the showing so far...so I assume he is showing more in practice but choking on offense during the games.

I love his hustle, his fire and his heart. But he simply cannot shoot!
He's also too small to be playing sustained minutes w no center on the floor, unless we are playing a small team. Nice w. We needed to get one that we weren't supposed to. Nice team effort. We got out rebounded, but shot well. Dom was a beast again.

I don't care how good Pointer has been playing, he's the least fundamentally sound player as there is in college basketball.

Quote of the day.

He still is. He plays out of control way too much. You can't deny that. I guess we just have to take the good with bad as long as the good continues to outweigh the bad.

Say what? By far our most valuable player who along with the team will make mistakes. But I don't want Dom to be cautious in his play. Have to believe that some NBA scouts are seriously thinking about drafting him. And why not?

He's playing with confidence and that makes all the difference for him. Dom reminds me of a punt returner that drops the kick...everyone scrambles and forgets their assignments...and then the returner takes off. Every time he dribbles it is scary, scary thing but he makes it work more times than not this season. I really like his decision-making.

I am so glad that Sheed struggled but compared to earlier in the season, seemed less reckless (only saw 2nd half)--this could be as important as any hot game he has had of late. Don't think he had a turnover in the 2nd half. "Let the game come to him" type of performance?

After that "disappearance" and that tweet...he seems to have kept a lower profile and focused more on his game and even when not playing so well, he didn't lose his marbles and shined on those crucial late game plays.

Can't help but think this kid has only just scratched the surface in terms of what he is capable of doing on a court.
He picked up his dribble and got called for the walk because he had no idea where he was going with the ball. When you say he's just scratched the surface, you got that right. He's just not interested enough unless his shots are dropping. I wonder if he knows how much his mates are depending on him.

It is amazing how his decision making has improved. Nice to see him going out with a bang this year.

Yes I did and I'm happy I was wrong. They were just killing us inside but then they stopped going inside and started shooting jump shots.

It wasn't simply that they stopped going inside it was that our guys were playing effective denial.
Enjoy the win. This was quality, team basketball from the coach down.

Agreed, I'm like the worst type of fan Paul. I get so into these games when my teams play (St. Johns, Islanders, Giants, Nets and SF Giants) I lose my mind! So happy for this team and these players. They play extremely hard and have huge hearts!!

I really like Amar. At one point in the game he grabbed a couple of rebounds, made a steal and rolled off a pick to score. This kid is not a bit afraid to pop his three point shot or even mix it up with a center inside. Nice minutes today.

Great game great win. Branch was great in the first half when Sheed had to sit. Amar is not a freshman anymore what a great last few games and today he really arrived. DLo a warrior. Pointer everywhere doing everything. Greene clutch. Most telling moment to me, however was Sheed not forcing the drive, giving it up to Greene and getting it back for the open 3 to make it a 6 point lead when we desperately needed the bucket. Earlier in the year he drives anyway and comes up empty. Today he makes the right decision, trusts his teammates and gets the ball back in position to nail the big shot that essentially sealed the victory. If Sheed keeps making those decisions we will be a tough out for everyone we play. Nice to see these guys playing smart, organized trust your teammates basketball which s a joy to watch.

Just a really enjoyable game to watch, and a great win to boot. So many solid contributions from many different guys. Thought the staff did a great job preparing the team for a tough road game. On to Gown. Take them one game at a time. This could turn into a fun ending to the season.

If he an avoid the fouls, he will be a vital contributor. Also, when he fouls down low, he has to get his money's worth and make sure the guy can't finish for the and 1. In one sequence, he made a block, got a rebound and came down and put up an open 3, which he missed. If that shot had gone in, it would have been just an incredible sequence. I really like how quickly he is developing from where he was at the beginning of conference play.

If anyone can find a good highlight video please post it because my dad missed the game and I forgot to DVR it
