If Anderson does come back.    I do not want to hear  even once about not having a losing season

Either that or postseason appearances at St. Johns. Oh wait...

Agree that CMA absolutely needs to say something. Tonight. Verified and well connected sources were sharing these rumors publicly.

I'm not a fan of how CMA hasn't tweeted for nearly a month and Cragg for nearly two. They were clearly waiting for things to turn around first before coming back. Now we're here, there's no running away, and it's time for them to acknowledge what has happened and what will happen going forward.
Thanks for posting that. I'd say if they were younger I'd be super scared, because they'd also be doing dumb crap like removing team photos/photos of each other from their social media. But this is enough to be a little concerning.

The fact that CMA has not made a public statement about the possible Tulsa job offer and has allowed it to percolate makes me think that the "story" may very well have legs to it and that he is seriously considering it.

I would like to see CMA return but would understand why he would be interested in the Tulsa job for all the reasons that have been previously mentioned. If he does leave, we need to hire someone with successful recent head coaching experience. There are many young, enthusiastic, hard working and successful mid major head coaches who would fit the bill. You've seen some of them on TV this past week if you watched Championship Week. They would likely jump at the opportunity to coach at a power conference program for $2.5M/year.

With Fr. Shanley and Mike Cragg at the helm, I am confident that, ultimately, we will be fine if CMA stays or leaves.

Just like all those young mid-major coaches jumping at the chance to coach STJ three years ago?

If he gets the offer, I can see the decision being made by his wife.

I'm sure she sacrificed a lot to come to NY, with two of the three years being rough with covid in the city.

I post so much here I'm not even sure if I'll be contradicting myself from even a couple days ago, but I initially don't think I thought this was realistic, but the more I read some of these posts, the more I think it has real legs.

The longer it goes without CMA addressing the rumors the longer those legs grow. The school and CMA have to know that.

This program has been many things over the past 2 decades, but boring it ain't been.

Three years ago, we didn't have cohesion at the administrative level between the University President and the A.D. Athletics at St John's were an after thought and clearly not a priority. We were being run like a mom and pop shop and not like the multi million dollar enterprise that it is.

That is no longer the case this time. Fr. Shanley and Mike Cragg see the big picture and share a common vision regarding the importance of athletics and how it's success will greatly benefit the St John's University community.

If CMA decides to leave for the Tulsa job, there will be more than adequate time to conduct a full and thorough search to find the right person to lead our program. I am confident in our administration's ability to make that happen.

No one can argue that.

If he does leave then how much does it really set us back? We have been to the postseason 3x with him in charge. Nah that is not true. He has brought in great recruiting classes. Nah that is not true. He has overachieved. Nah that is not true. The fact is he was hired for stability and would be here 5-7 years. If he wants to go then go. I am sure we can finish in middle of pack or worse with out him.

bring back lavin

Hope it isn’t true as I don’t want to lose any of the core players nor the recruits. But, if it is, short of a home run, should include Lavin among those considered.

I will take it one day at a time with this Tulsa thing and the whole offseason in general. I will enjoy the NCAA tournament and then baseball season. Its six months until the fall semester is under way and we probably won't know what our team and possibly our coaching staff will look like until then and who knows what other curveballs will come our way.

We have some St Johns Baseball saturdays coming up after the tournament is over if you want to come with the 114 guys and myself again

Lavin?  Whether or not you think he should have been fired the first time, rehiring somebody we previously fired would be a new low even for us.  Can we all agree that if we do hire  a new coach, it should not be somebody who was previously fired?  I’d go further and say we should hire a young, hungry coach with local roots.

If you can name anyone who has or can recruit like him I’m all ears.

What I can tell you is that they are targeting him and they would not be doing so if they did not think they could land him.

I think his decision at SJU will be influenced by the fact that next year becomes a huge year for him.  Does he want to face a second firing at a high major in 4 years and being over 60?  Very few coaches at that age get a 3rd shot at a major job.  That my make Tulsa look like a good opportunity.

Or is he confident that he will turn this around starting next year and make this his ultimate destination job.

Brian Mahoney recruited higher ranked players than Mr. Lavin did, and neither Messrs. Mahoney nor Lavin should merit consideration.

For perhaps a number of reasons, Lavin did not recruit all that well his last few years.  I have serious doubts he would be able to recruit at a high level if he were come back again.    And then there is the issue of his in-game coaching.  If Anderson does not return, we need a fresh start!

The decision to stay or go if offered will be coaches. The point i and others are making is we do not feel like he has accomplished enough for this to be a major setback. If he has a plan and the team is on the right track to accomplish goals timely, then that is a different story.
