Going to take this waaaaay off topic for a minute, but hope it's OK.Walter Matthau is on the board right now!!! This is so huge, it's raising people from the dead.
Not that anyone will write this down...by my grandmother is buried at Beth David...along with two of her sisters and a brother in law. Phil Spector took his song "To Know Him is to Love Him" from his dad's tombstone. Some notables buried there include Joyce Brothers, Andy Kaufman, Martin Landau, Jackie Mason, Doc Pomus and Abe Vigoda.Going to take this waaaaay off topic for a minute, but hope it's OK.
When my brother was little, he and my dad were in the car driving in Elmont. At the top of the hill near our house, a portion of Beth David Cemetery is visible through a chan link fence. My brother starts pointing and screams, "It's Walter Matthau!" My father proceeds to respond, "Matthew, how many times have I told you to stop lying!" followed by a 5-minute tirade featuring variations of the same theme. Next day in the paper, obituary for Walter Matthau's brother, buried at Beth David Cemetery. So my brother actually did see Walter Matthau standing graveside at the top of a random hill in Elmont. My brother is still bitter that my dad essentially called him full of crap and a liar.
So while most people think of something like "The Odd Couple" when they see the name Walter Matthau, I think of my father berating my brother.
But anyway, to bring this back to St. John's . . . good to have you posting during what will be a Golden Era of St. John's basketball, Walter!
Great story LJSA! I know Beth David well, unfortunately. My brother from another mother is buried there. In fact I pay for his perpetual care annually so they get a check(they still only take checks!) from me every year. Smallest roadways of any cemetary that I've ever been in, and maybe the most graves per cubic inch.Going to take this waaaaay off topic for a minute, but hope it's OK.

Raoul Felder...outstanding lawyer. When Giuliani was getting divorced, he was accused of having an affair. Felder was his lawyer. He told me all the viagra in the world wouldn't help...so no way would that happen.,...and Doc Pomus's brother is???
My wife loves to visit cemeteries. We even visited Jim Morrison's grave at Pere LaChaise in Paris.Memo to self. I have way too many friends here with intimate knowledge of cemetaries
Isnโt Janis Joplin also buried there? Or is it Jimi Hendrix? I thought one of them was.My wife loves to visit cemeteries. We even visited Jim Morrison's grave at Pere LaChaise in Paris.
My computer screen wallpaper is the photo I took of Albert Camus' grave in Lourmarin, France. My wife loves to visit cemeteries. We even visited Jim Morrison's grave at Pere LaChaise in Paris.
Ever see him in Fail Safe? Dead serious role cast against type, and hits a home runGoing to take this waaaaay off topic for a minute, but hope it's OK.
