@Syracuse, Wed. Dec. 21, 7pm, YES&RSN/970AM

Fun, but perspective.
Yes that was FUN (not the Foad kind). Where does Ponds get the strength to so effortlessly shoot those 30 footers? Played with great energy which they need to do as often as possible. Will keep this one on my DVR. Not to be a killjoy but the perspective is I have seen this movie before (last year). Key will be to duplicate this effort more often than we did after beating the Cuse last season.

This was much more impressive than last year. We held a dunk party in the second half reminiscent to the ones they used to hold on us when Norm was coach. The team played a complete game for 40 minutes and beat them in every facet of the game including style points. No guarantee what happens the rest of the year, but this team has now seen what it can do. No more excuses.

Absolutely speechless, we were 13 point underdogs and pulled this one out of the sky.

Think there was a point where we had 3-4 dunks in a row in the 2nd half during that massive run. Foot on the gas pedal type of play lol. Loved it!

Nice teet from D'Lo
Started with us @philgreene31 congrats to @StJohnsBBall on flawless victory it's 4 am here I need some sleep I BLEED #SJUBB

From Mike Vaccaro
St. John's turning Syracuse into a grease spot at Carrier Dome is a reminder of just how wonderfully illogical sports can be. Wow. #SJUBB

From Zach
My two takeaways from tonight: St John's hasn't played this hard collectively all year. And they haven't shared ball like that either #sjubb

The biggest bonuses to me tonight were Bashir being much more team player and making the extra pass even if it wasn't converted by the other player on at least 1 occasion. That extra pass is contagious and also just might get you a better shot yourself.

For me at least I can see a lot of potential in Ellison. Hope he continues upwards

Freud. Getting better. He is fundamentally sound. Just needs to keep catching up to the speed of the game but I think he is going to be good down the road

Holyfield has a nice stroke. When he comes into the game I don't think it's a player that's just on the team because he might be smart and help with GPA or something

That Cole kid had a nice handle on a play in the backcourt

I don't think we used any time outs tonight.

They would have only helped Syracuse. ;)

Called one late in 1st half when we were up and Cuse cut it to 10.
Yes, the use it or lose it first half TO.
It was good TO, Cuse had just scored on 2 successive possessions
Agree, it was a smart TO. Was responding to comment of thinking we didn't use any TOs. Most coaches in almost every game seem to not want to waste the first half TO and will call it with even just seconds left in the half. More likely to use it where Mo did cause you know you have it in your pocket and only 3-4 minutes are left in the half so why not use it judiciously instead of ceremoniously. Man did I beat this minor point to death or what? Guess I'm just giddy from the big win as most of my posts are quite short. I could go on and on.....but I'll spare you all. :)

Wow ! What a win , a great Christmas present .
This is what we are capable of when you give our team confidence, I believe 27 assists and making it look easy.

:woohoo: Here I am living in Central New York, with tons of SU fans. Guess who is going to proudly wear his St. John's jacket to work? Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine a 33 point massacre of the team that I hate the most at the Carrier Dome.

Agree completely. We're not going to win to many games (let alone road games) the rest of the way by 33 points, but this game should awaken the team to the fact if they play hard and organized, really good things will happen. I know they're young, but I am still so baffled by how extremely erratic they are.

Everyone reading this should take a deep breath and take a moment to reflect on the fact that although the massacre at the Dome was a big victory it also was a clear confirmation that group of maligned recently assembled St.John's players and coaches have character and are committed to win and improve.

I admit that I had begun to question the collective talents of the members of this St.John's team, but when other coaches and players would have lost focus, this group came into one of the more hostile home courts and proved themselves. So my request is that everyone sit back, enjoy the remainder of the season, and save your "chicken little" comments (" the sky is falling") until the end of the season.

Please give this newly collected group of St.John's coaches and players an opportunity to grow this season.

Hopefully Justin Cole has started the Molloy pipeline.

I never understood why our previous coach wasn't getting his walk-ons from Molloy, CTK, etc. Makes sense for so many reasons.

I'll plead guilty to uttering some "chicken little" comments after the Penn St game. I wasn't happy with the team and the coaching, and I was frustrated. Last night certainly restored some of my faith in the kids and in CM. Hoping they can build on this. Actually now looking forward to the Butler game next Thursday,

The three guards high, double post on the elbows worked well against the Syracuse zone. Syracuse really respected our shooters. The guards did a good job of looking for the post, and the big men did a good job of passing. I'd love to see this team continue to look for the post around the elbow, interior pass and move the ball for the open three. I think this plays to Bahir's strengths.

Early on, we had problems with their zone as the ball just moved around the perimeter. Ponds' ability to hit from 30 feet seemed to open things up, and Freud found himself alone in the corners and scored 8 quick points. There are not that many players anywhere with both the range and the confidence to shoot from that far out. Ponds has the makings of a special player.
