Rysheed Jordan

@yelbeeez: Damn. RT @KieranDarcy: Billy Garrett Jr. of DePaul here... Looks like he's beaten out Rysheed Jordan for Big East ROY #sjubb

Motivation.

Any player worth his salt gets motivated by the center jump; I never understood this "artificial" motivation. Does that mean Jordan (or anyone) doesn't focus and play to his fullest unless he perceives a slight? Just really silly to me but as I have said many times I am old, am old school and didn't need anything other than an opponent and keeping score to get motivated.

Do you have emotions? Have you ever played sports? This post is ridiculous. You must be like 90. I used to live off emotions playing sports. You give 100% of what you have...sometimes that is higher than others. When you feel slighted, angry, jealous, sad...whatever you have more to give. I fed off emotions every single game of my life. The best thing you could would be nice and respectful...nothing I could use. Thousands of kids and adults just like me.

Sheed's definitely motivated, and this is a good sign. Just posted a picture to his Instagram with the caption "If you want something, you have to work for it. If you don't get it, work harder."

How many times do we see teams play flat. If they were completely motivated teams would never be flat and every game would be a battle. But a lot of times players will be a lot more focused and motivated in a big game than they are in a game against an inferior opponent

Motivation is part of human emotion. In someways athletes are no different than the average person with a regular job. I can tell you for certain people in my office are a lot more motivated tues-thurs than they are on mondays and fridays but theoretically they should be motivated the same every day since they are paid on revenue generated and not salary

Think the best comparison whether players get motivated by a perceived "slight" or not is MJ's Hall of Fame speech. He invited the guy who made the Varsity team over him to the induction ceremony...hysterical.

Jessie Armstead I'm pretty sure used to keep a list of every linebacker drafted ahead of him in his locker that he used as motivation when he took the field and crossed each one off the list when they left the nfl before him

Heck I heard Marillac had a list over every single Uconn women's team stat and used it as motivation to hook up with Diana Taurasi

As a Knicks fan I hated MJ, but this is why I think he is better than Lebron. He'd eat Lebron's soul. There has never been a more competive player. Ever. He was pissed all the time and those are the kinds of guys I want on my team or playing for me. Logen gets motivated by the jump ball? That's cute...go play at BYU. Give me guys with chips on their shoulders and something to prove or somebody to the want to demoralize.

Jordan should want to make anyone that had any part in that decision look stuipd when Garrett goes home tongight with yet another loss and he goes on to the BET championship game.

Decidedly Jordan got off to a very slow start. If he puts its together, he could be BE player of the year next season, or the BET MVP this year. I'd love to see either, and neither is out of reach for him.

I would love to see us win a couple (hopefully more) and see Rysheed get named to the all tournament team. We will go as far as he takes us, this team thrives off his energy and confidence. If he is playing like he did vs Georgetown we can beat ANYBODY

Agree 100%. We are a totally different team with him on the floor. If our guys click on all cylinders, they are capable of a special run through the BET. Of course we know the alternative.

Mark Jackson took great joy in burning the guards of teams who did not draft him as he dropped into the Knicks lap. Especially the buffoon Abe Pollin.

Yes, every athlete should always give their all and be pumped up, but in reality they have to quite often be motivated to live up to ther full potential, especially when you are talking about young men who are not professional players.

Even on the pro level, how many times have you seen a player have a phenomenal career year during the last year of his contract? Only to be followed up by mediocre seasons after.

Motivation is very real in sports.

Well, you missed my point completely. I prefaced it by saying "any player worth his salt." I never said what I call artificial motivation is not real; you just don't win consistently or ever reach your potential with those kind of players. That's why you have winners and guys who just play the game; me I'll give away the talent and take the players who are consumed with winning every time they keep score any day.

As long as you have enough talent since you can be as motivated as hell but without the talent you go no where Need a balance

He'd eat Lebron's soul. There has never been a more competive player.

Can we stay on topic here.
Every time I see a new post registered, I'm thinking for some reason Jordan's not playing today.
