Rysheed Jordan

No shock here. Enjoy him another year.

I'm sure he'll go... and there is no reason not to. He's got the talent to make it.

As I'm watching this Wash. Wizards game, John Wall is so good going to his left.... One thing I was trying to remember from last season. I can't remember, is Jordan strong going to his left?

AROUND THIS TIME NEXT YEAR MY FAMILY WILL BE STRAIGHT GOIN INTO JUNE!!!❗❗❗❗

Oh man, this is Jakarr all over again.

Not really. The big issue with Sampson last year is once the ball was passed to him everybody in the stands knew he was going to put it up.

Jordan's draft stock will go through the roof if he shows himself to be a complete floor leader out there. If he puts up a season of maybe 13 ppg and 7 apg, St. John's will be a real tough team to beat.

He needs to improve his passing on his drives to the hoop. I would like to see him kick it out to D LO more.

I agree with you 100%

I just don't understand all the NBA hype around Jordan. The best thing he has going for him is his size. But other than that, what does he do that is above average? Sure, he can drive to the lane, but will he be able to shoot over and around the big men in the NBA? Nowadays, I think teams want their PG to be alot more than just a floor leader....they need to be able to score as well, and I don't think that Jordan's jump shot is where it needs to be for the NBA. Sure, he plays above average defense, but its the NBA, so how much defense is actually played?

I think it will ultimately take a monster year from Jordan for him to even be considered in the draft....and I don't mean a really good year, I mean a monster year, somewhere along the lines of 18-20ppg, 8ast, and 6rbs.

Haha if thats what it takes then hell be playing in college all four years. People just dont put up those stats in college, not enough minutes, not enough scoring. I said earlier I think his ceiling is 17,6,6 but there is a biiiig difference between 6 and 8 assists and 17 and 19 points when it comes to averages.

I think your numbers are a little high for what constitutes a "monster" year, but I agree with you everything else. Jordan isn't even being mentioned in mocks for next year's draft prospects. He has potential, but he's a long way away from being close to what Smart, KA, Nappier, Semaj were this past season. And those are the pgs that are getting drafted.
He's the type of player for whom the NBA is a possibility. But he's not the lottery pick some of our fans think he is.

Does lots extremely well...His court vision and defense are well above average...gets to hoop easily .Jump shot has good form and can/will improve

I'll say it again...I think a very good year from Jordan gets him around a mid second round grade with the suggestion to head back to school for another year.
I think this year will be a lot like the 2012 draft, where only three PGs(if you count Wroten JR. as a point) went in the first round and only five overall...or 2010 where only six went in the entire draft.

You figure 30 teams...an average of two PGs per team. Subtract all the young stars that will be around for years like Lillard, Kyrie Irving, Westbrook, CP3, Dragic, Rose, Wall, Bledsoe, Brandon Jennings, Ricky Rubio, Rondo, Jrue Holiday, Kemba Walker, George Hill, Patty Mills, Chalmers, Conley Jr., etc. Then think about the absurd amount of PGs taken last year: Trey Burke, Oladipo, CJ McCullom, MCW, Dennis Schroeder, Shane Larkin, Nedovic (all first rounders)...Ray McCallum, Isaiah Cannon, Nate Wolters, Pierre Jackson, Raul Nato, Lorenzo Brown, and Peyton Siva...and projected this year: Dante Exum, Marcus Smart, Gary Harris, Tyler Ennis, Zach Lavine, Shabazz Napier, Elfred Payton (most like Jordan), Jordan Clarkson, Semaj Christon (all first rounders), Nick Johnson, Deonte Burton, Kendall Williams, and Deandre Kane. There hasn't been three consecutive years like that for PGs since the NBA draft went to two rounds. There are arguably more PGs that are the first or second best player on their respective teams than any other position.

I think there will be three first rounders: Mudiay, Tyus Jones, Andrew Harrison. There might only be one or two picked in the second round, and Marcus Paige and Delon Wright seem to be the next in line. Then, there are always veterans like Shane Larkin or Shabazz Napier that play their way up the draft in March and April.

If we get exposure this year and he has a big year than I think you'll be wrong. What he has on almost all of those guys is NBA size, and the ones he doesnt have size on, like mudiay, kane, Andrew Harrison, he has more athleticism. And its not like he is void of skill. He has plenty of it, just needs to hone it and the sky is the limit.

Maybe Kane and Harrison but from what I've seen not Mudiay

Are you talking about athleticism? you could be right, but if you are its not by much.

Nice story. Thanks for posting.

For many reasons, Sheed is an easy guy to root for...

Kind of surprised our name is not mentioned, especially since Jordan is his mentor and he yearns to play in the B.E. Maybe it's too early or Lavin figures we already have an "in."

"Jordan is the starting point guard at St. John's. Beatty is finishing his freshman year at Archbishop Carroll."

Not saying we should or should not be showing interest yet but if your point is that he is only a freshman they did mention about 4 schools that were already showing interest including Syracuse.

I read Jacks quote wrong, I thought he implied that our name wasn't mentioned at all in the article. After reading it again I think he was talking about being mentioned as recruiting him.

Unfortunately, it seems like Sheeds mom is back in the hospital (according to him on Twitter). I'm not sure the cause or reasoning but send some prayers for the family hoping for a speedy recovery.
