Rysheed Jordan

i think Lavin starts Jordan from day 1 or, very close thereafter.. It could be Sampson, Sanchez,Harrison, Branch and Jordan as the first 5. You don't bring a player like Rysheed in as a impact player and not get him on stage.from the first curtain. None of this let the game come to him stuff..He's recognized as the BE 'S BEST RECRUIT this season.

Put Him in, Coach.

The game vs. Wisconsin I`d start: Branch, Harrison, Hooper (with Wisconsin`s def I`d like to start the game with 2 deadly shooters for the first 3-4 minutes then put in Dom for Hooper unless Hooper is on firse then leave him in.) Sanchez and Sampson.
Not saying Jordan can`t 20minutes just wouldn`t start him, a defensive team could frustate the kid.
I`d put Obekpa in at the 10minute mark, just to make sure he stays out of foul trouble. Much rather have his shot blocking ability in the late 10 minutes instead of the first 10.
My ending game lineup vs. Cuse or conf play:: Obekpa, Sampson, Sanchez, Jordan, Harrison. That`s the best lineup right there

Sir Dominick is not getting the respect he is due. He is a key to the defense and running game.

Now that's irony..

Suspect list. This guy has two Philly freshmen ranked above Jordan?

Borzello always surprises me considering his brother is an SJU grad.

I don't think this is a slight to Rhysheed.
Borzello's is an impact list, not a talent ranking.
"This takes into account the opportunity for immediate impact more so than simply talent and high school performance. Not every five-star prospect will make the list – sometimes, the minutes and starring role just aren't there yet."

Could be he thinks D'angelo and Branch play 35+ mins a piece. And that's not a completely ridiculous notion.
Personally I think Jordan's talent forces coach to find minutes for him, somewhere. But if guys like Branch and Dom play very well to start the year, I could definitely see Jordan getting squeezed some. That's a big IF though.
But the other guys on the list are probably guaranteed starters' minutes.

Get 'em!

Lavin's highest SJU recruit-to-date and he's gonna get squeezed?

Are you crazy.

Coach's highest recruit, but also his deepest team. Would 22 minutes for a first year player joining 3 junior guards be a squeeze job? Certain match ups going to dictate Pointer must be on the floor. We have a good front court. I don't see a three guard lineup on the floor as much as some do. Next year 3 guard lineup might be a necessity.

@jeffborzello: @AdamZagoria Was my last guy off. Replaced him last minute with Keith Frazier.

He's just reaching at this point.

Maybe you didn't read the part where I said I think his talent forces coach's hand. He'll play a lot.
I'm just saying that's probably the reason he was left off this list. To outside observers, there are two talented upperclassmen that play the same positions Jordan would. They don't know the team like we do.

Lavin will not squeeze the kid. I don't know how many minutes he'll end up playing but Lavin would have had to lost his mind to squeeze a talent like Sheed. He comes in as our best penetrator from Day 1. That alone makes everyone on the team better.

You don't put that in a box. You showcase it.

I don't think the people making these lists put much thought into it. Jordan is top 30 and will prove it.

It's a matter of degree. The depth and minutes available arguments as they relate to Rysheed's potential impact vs. other freshman are valid ones...if we are talking about comparing him to the top 10 freshman in the country (there are 4-5 on Kentucky alone who may have more opportunity than Sheed). But no way are there 30 freshman lined up to have better seasons than him. No chance.

How does Brandon Austin place so high then? I absolutely love the kid's game, but Providence has three excellent players 1-3 with Dunn (top 25 recruit), Cotton (All-Big East), and Henton (All-Big East freshman two years ago). Is Providence going to sit its leading scorer, Cotton, or its leading rebounder, Henton, to give this kid 25+ mpg?

Henton will get most of his minutes at the 4.

The one I'm most interested in here comparitively is Tyler Ennis. Saw him play a few times as a senior - tremendous, tremendous player. Not discounting that. But it seems like he is in the Orange Eskimo hype machine now to the point where he is being viewed as in another class from Jordan (see: this article). Don't see that one. Different players, Ennis perhaps the more pure point guard; Jordan more versatile and can fill 3 positions for you. But Jordan was more highly rated by at least one prominent outlet, and at the very least these two have similar stocks. If you told me right now I could only have one of them I would take Sheed.

Orange only have 3 guards. Period. So again it's a matter of the opportunity being there for Ennis to get a ton of minutes right away. If Ennis was a forward on this year's Cuse team he probably doesn't make the list as there's already not enough minutes to go around.

Biancardi gave Jordan some props on this show dedicated to freshmen (they primarily focused on Wiggins, Parker, Randle, and Gordon) on ESPNU, earlier this evening.

5 Frosh to to know this year in CBB. Rysheed Jordan - #sjubb His decisions are advanced when he beats you off the bounce. #competitive
