Although no reason was officialy given, and every situation is certianly different, I would not be suprised if decommiting becomes the norm at many of the non-football schools.
The future is uncertian, and it's very clear that we will not be playing against the same level of competition in the future that we are now, even if we stay in the established Big East. Less competition also means less TV exposure. Which means less NBA scouts at games, etc.
Like I said, I don't know the actual reasoning here. It could be something totally different then this as to why Gathers made his decision. I just wouldn't be suprised if all recruits to non-football Big East schools are having second thoughts now.
