Providence Game 2

From a fan of the team that had Brandon Austin and Kadeem Batts. Prov fans have an inferiority complex like Seton Hall fans do.

Just got back from the game. One Providence loudmouth who was quiet all game started talking sh*t with about 2 mins to go, chating "NIT, NIT". It was dumb enough because Providence is no lock themselves for a bid, but when no one reacted, started yelling, "Where's Harrison's brother?" Then when no one reacted started yelling, "In jail for 25 years." At that point I turned around to look for him but he had shut up. Still steamed, and should have said something.

Am I too old to challenge a 20 year old? Probably. But also not smart enough not to do it. Hope I run into him again.

Greg was in my row again. Good guy. Nice game.

He must not be aware tha LaDontae Henton also has a brother in prison. Really stupid to attack a kid's family for personal difficulties.

What really bugs me is that Harrison speaks to his brother almost every day. It was his brother who implored him not to blow his chance when things were bad for him. I don't know either of course, but if D'Angelo's brother is made of the stuff that D'Angelo is made of, then I'd bet on him to reverse course and make something of himself, too.

Just got back from the game. Solid win. must string together several in a row for it to mean anything.

Realized my St Johns gameday good karma head to toes all sju outfit won and that the reason why we lost to duke is I forgot to wear my redmen hat. Made sure I wore it today and victory

Glad we put down providence as their fans started getting into it the 2nd half but our guys bounced back after them chewing into our 2nd half lead.

Great game by Dom and DLO starting to bounce back. Damn that Dunn kid is good

Providence fans think their shit don't stink. They bashed Harrison after the last game calling him a thug.

Glad we got a win. I'm one of the very frustrated on here but it's mostly because Lavin screwed his seniors with no depth and have nothing against the kids on the roster (although they can be frustrating). I hope Harrison et al use this as a springboard to march hardness.

We won the rebounding battle today. Our guards (not just Harrison) contributed in this area.

Where are all the crybabies at who gave up on the season after last game?
The crybabies also knew DLO was still injured and Sheed was injured. Together w no bench looked very bad. W DLO almost back to old form and Jorden playing well, w some substitutions to rest the guys, you never know, If we can string a few wins together, we can come back into NCAA consideration.

As I've said many times before, Providence fans are the most classless pieces of trash you will ever find at a game. They almost make pukon and puke fans tolerable. That moron who probably had his beer muscles going who shouted that out should have gotten his butt kicked. You and those around you showed common sense and restraint because you aren't trash like he was. That says something.

Now you see why there are those giant riots at soccer matches!

Sooooooooo glad we swept providence this year. Very enjoyable to watch!!!

I didn't read through every post on every thread, but I would say the majority of the frustration was directed firmly at Lavin, and rightfully so. One good win or one bad loss doesn't affect the body of work that we have seen since SL's arrival. I for one, am ALWAYS rooting for our kids on the court. So much so, that I firmly believe they deserve a better coach. Maybe there are a few that actually gave up on the season after the last game, I don't know. We happen to match up well with Providence, and it helps that the balls that have not been bouncing in our favor did so today. For the players, I hope this win gets their confidence back.

Bench minutes allowed the closers to have some gas in the tank down the stretch.

No change in bench minutes but in/out subs with the 6 that played was better. Alibegovic got the only significant minutes as 7th man. Providence went 10 deep. The only difference was everyone was healthy imo. Need to get Balamou and Jones a couple of minutes each.

I love Amar's enthusiasm but those two shots he took were quite ugly, as was JDR's foul shot. But if the few minutes they played helped avoid some foul trouble, it is worth considering using them the rest of the season. Jones has to be pretty awful in practice if JDR and Amar are getting off the bench first. Balamou plays some good defense so I wouldn't mind if he saw limited minutes but would honestly rather see Stewart.

I don't see Stewart as a Big East talent. Just my assessment.

I too love Amar's enthusiasm and I think the move he plays the more comfortable he will get and his shot will come. I would use Stewart and Balamou a few minutes a game depending on the flow of the game and the needs of the team that day. If we need a little offense I would use Stewart, if we need some defense and a little rebounding I would use Balamou. Good win today. We need the next three and we will be in very good position.

Wouldn't be my first choice either but I think he can play a few minutes and make a couple of shots.

I hope Harrison didn't hear that comment. Very nasty.

Just watched the game on DVR cuz i was working but there were some non calls that were rough.

Love our attitude.

And

The Ugly shooter chant.

We've played PC on campus in recent years so I hadn't dealt with their fans much but man are they a nasty group. Surprising for a team that needed a miracle conference tournament run to make their first tournament in 10 years.

Also what a pathetic showing by our student body, is a 12 PM start too much of a hassle for them to wake up for?

Great game though. If we can somehow take Butler on the road we have 2 extremely winnable home games to put us over .500 and back in business.

So happy I was wrong about today's game. Big win! Need more... Let's go on a streak of 4!!!
I love the enthusiasm but let's get 2 in-a-row before we start talking about streaks. These guys have to take each game individually.
