(POST GAME) Villanova, Wed., Feb. 3, 9p, CBSSN / 570 AM WMCA

Coach specifically mentioned the toughness of both Wusu and the Duke.  i agree.  I loved the lineup when those 2 were on the floor.

Early in the season, the team was treating defense like an inconvenience that they had to get thru in order to get back to offense...during this run, they have connected the dots and treat defense like a weapons

i Hope the Nets follow suit!
great night!!!
happy for all of us

Posh and Wusu are just a pleasure to watch.  I critized the low rating on Wusu coming out of high school
and if he could I am sure he would enjoy watching me eat my words.

As good as our guys have been playing, I think that they can be even better. A little more discipline on offense, a little more boxing out on the boards. The fact that we are improving each game, and will continue to improve, is great for us and bad for everyone else.

Posn has really improved his shot since the start of the season. I can't believe he is a freshman. He has to be on the court 35 minutes a game. He is the engine that makes us run. Champ was struggling early on offense. But instead of sulking, he just played excellent defense and hit the boards hard.

The camera focused on Moore after the game ended.  He looked emotionally spent. It is great that after a brief suspension he is showing that winning means a lot to him. He has shown better shot selection, and has been a real asset to the team.  Great win for the players, the coaching staff, and the fans that never abandon their team.

I thought he was just tossed in so posh would come here.  Hes a star!

This win is miles better than our crazy Duke and Nova upsets we got a couple years ago for the simple fact that this wasn't some wild upset where we had a Shamorie Ponds go off and lead us to victory.

this was 40 minutes of our 5 was better, tougher, quicker and smarter than their 5 the entire evening. We got off to a slow start where we couldn't hit a shot. But we dominated them.

and Jay Wright had cards he tried to play but the fact of the matter was their guys didn't want it as much. We imposed our will. To do that to a well oiled machine like nova. It's an awesome... AWESOME feeling

Superb win. Great for champagnie to put his mark on this game even without the shot falling early.

Just goes to show you, even though he wasn't scoring he rebounded and blocked shots. My kind of player.

I don't know what to say about this game.  We've seen Nova get shot out of the gym before, or them just have a night where they can't make anything.  Yes they didn't shoot well tonight, but a big part of that was our aggression and intensity.  You NEVER see Nova flustered, and they were beyond flustered tonight.  Our kids were fearless and they took Nova's spirit.  I have no doubt Nova is going to pay us back for that, lol, but to see our kids have that effect on such a great team makes me so proud of them.  Gillespie is as good and tough a college PG as you'll ever want, and I can't recall ever seeing him look so throttled and uncomfortable as he was tonight.

Even better, this was a true "team" win.  This wasn't Ponds going off for 35 and a few other guys making some plays.  Our guys played, by and large, how we want them to play.  Cole did exactly what we want him to do -- compete enough on D and both take and make some 3's, especially open ones.  Moore played good D all over the floor with that big wing span of his, but was mostly under control and around the rim in the paint, doing what we want him to do.  Wusu and Earlington played exactly how we want them to play.  Champagne made up for some offensive struggles with defense and being a huge factor on the glass.  Roberts did his thing when he was in.  Even Dunn, despite the 5 TOs, impacted the game positively in a way that numbers cannot state.  And I had no problem with him taking a few midrange jumpers early because he needs to do that from time to time.

And then there is Posh.  Nothing needs to be said about what he did tonight.

It's just amazing how fundamentally sound Posh is on defense.  He's like the cowboy in a rodeo that the bull just can't throw.    Even a top player like Gillespie was thrown off his game by the way Posh just kept glued to him.

A lot of accolades to go around.  Julian's fundamentals on interior defense is superb.  He doesn't swat shots like some guys, but he snuffs a lot in big moments without fouling.  Pretty amazing.

Team didn't fall apart when they went into droughts, just kept working for and taking good looks.  Eventually they dropped.

I said earlier today this wasn't a break game but could be a make game.

League has been served notice.  You'd better be ready to play our guys because they WILL  be ready for you.

We know there are better teams in the league but now these kids know that EVERY game can be won.

NEXT.  but they can enjoy this till the next practice.

Some great posts after the game. I think the 40 minutes of hell was the best. I haven't seen anyone play harder than Posh does. His conditioning is outstanding to stay at that level for 35 minutes. Everyone chipped in. Champs rebounding and blocks were big. Moore played very under control. Huge 3's from Cole and Wusu. Earlington missed a few shots but was solid. Hope Williams is ok because that was a huge dunk. Dunn was a little sloppy but he attacked the boards and made some great passes. Great coaching.

A huge win and a great game to watch.

Posh  is a  5 star talent
So we got a good one!

Love this TEAM

No matter what happens rest of way, this group plays hard for each other.

have to give credit to Cole and Moore, both of whom have stepped it up. Was disappointed in them 4 or so games ago - but Cole has become much more assertive and Moorte has become much more judicious with his shot selection (and boy does he get up quick on putbacks)

With all of the favorable press we will receive, CMA will have to ensure that the chip remains squarely on their shoulder

Coach Anderson outcoached Wright this evening.

Villanova seemed unprepared and ill equipped for St. John's defense and offensive sets.

Coling Gillepsie will have nightmares this evening of Posh Alexander.

Onward to Providence this Saturday for a 2 pm game.

Somebody said it earlier but Jay Wright couldn't simulate playing against ST John's style because our speed and athleticism was too much for him to recreate.

Posh is such a monster that he will end careers. There will come a time when Posh will be the first thing his opponents think of when they wake up in the morning, and the reason they can't go to sleep. They do not want this work. Almost every PG in the game will be broken mentally by him.
