Coming into the game Gillespie had a total of 12 turnovers this season.  He had 6 turnovers tonight.
Posh is the man!
I didn't see Gillespie and Posh mixing it up before they each received a warning. But, good for Posh. No fear. No awe.

With all of the aspects of Posh's game that receive kudos, one aspect that hasn't been talked about much is his temperament. He is very cool under pressure. Look on his face never changes.

Great win! Can we please acknowledge that the "concerns" with CMAs recruiting based purely on how many stars his recruits got is BS? Results matter, would think that is pretty clear by now.

Eating crow never tasted so good...

A great team win . Defense harassed Nova all over the Court . Cats never got into rhythm .  None of their guys were  beating us off the dribble . And , they pretty well defended the Nova 3's all night . Posh outplayed Gillespie so much , Wright took the ball out of Colin's hands for the bulk of the game .

And 2 for 12 from the field.

Some great posts after the game. I think the 40 minutes of hell was the best. I haven't seen anyone play harder than Posh does. His conditioning is outstanding to stay at that level for 35 minutes. Everyone chipped in. Champs rebounding and blocks were big. Moore played very under control. Huge 3's from Cole and Wusu. Earlington missed a few shots but was solid. Hope Williams is ok because that was a huge dunk. Dunn was a little sloppy but he attacked the boards and made some great passes. Great coaching.

A huge win and a great game to watch.

As I posted earlier I was confident tonight.

Defense, defense - remember the porous defense earlier in the season. Just shows you what coaching can do.

Nova averages 8 turnovers a game, tonight 17 and Gillespie with 6. Kudos to Posh  holding him to 4 points.

Another outstanding performance from Posh - freshman of the year!

Not impressed with Dunn tonight. Thought he was looking for his points in the first half.

Got to like the consistent efforts from Cole, Wusu and Moore. They certainly know their role.

Just  goes to show us that we need to have patience with our coaching staff.

HELL YEA !!!

well said Jack -
we are all saying the same wonderful thing:
national audience
#3 team versus
unheraalded
Red Storm

(as an aside our next L will have the sane crap surface about our coach and our program)

for tonight - I feel so good for the kids!
CMA has us going  in the right direction!

the st John's family around the world is sleeping tight tonight!

blessings

Coach Anderson outcoached Wright this evening.

Villanova seemed unprepared and ill equipped for St. John's defense and offensive sets.

Coling Gillepsie will have nightmares this evening of Posh Alexander.

Onward to Providence this Saturday for a 2 pm game.

The entire game I was waiting for a 15-0 or monster run but this team made Villanova look like the number 300th team in the country tonight.  Our defense was great, we missed some easy shots but so did Villanova.  All around these guys are fearless.

Same with Dunn and just about everyone else on the team.

Mike kept this team together through tough times;

Rothstein; A little over three weeks ago, St. John's gave up 97 points to Creighton without Marcus Zegarowski.

The Red Storm just held Villanova to 59 in a massive win.

Mike Anderson has sent a message:

His team can make the NCAA Tournament THIS season.

I don't know about you guys but I'm still mad about that shoulder Gillespie threw into Dunn after which he flopped and drew the foul call.   Typical Nova BS.

Not sure there was anything else notable about the game.

I'd add as well that our offensive movement and sets are also the best I've seen in a long time.  Great PG, big East leading scorer and good chemistry, but mainly great coaching.  It takes time and it's looking really good. Again, Dunn not great tonight, but I'd still love him back and with a guy like Pinzon maybe taking the lead there, we can be killer.  First things first... this season!

I was on a hastily called video conference from 7 PM - 11:30 to go over a contract so I missed the game.  Thankfully at 6:30 I decided to set the DVR just in case.  Good friend texted me at 11:00 about the huge win (didn't spoil it for me as I was checking my phone to see the results).  Can't wait to watch it tomorrow night.  Too exhausted to do it tonight.
