What does having NBA talent has to do with gumption and balls? None! Talent? Yes. But not gumption and gonads.

This team was picked anywhere from 2nd-4th by MOST prognosticators. I also missed the Yanks in the World Series and the Giants in the playoffs ..Guilty . I would look up your predictions , if you made any but, I don’t care about your predictions . I know you delight in trashing Mullin . If that makes you a big man , go ahead . BE Coaches had us 4 th , not 2 Nd like you said . You forgot too, the Artest, Barckly had courage and Balls too . Plus more talent .

I could only start watching the game at the half; I felt good we had a 9 point lead, then we forgot how to play defense, wow, awful second half.

I am depressed because in my mind, finishing under .500 in a mediocre BE conference means you shouldn't get into the Big Dance. Even if we get the invite, what are the chances we win a game.

I am hoping for a miracle and a W against X and two wins at least in the BET. I'm a dreamer what can I say!
We played well. Scored 83 points on the road. Played against the refs, too. And we've been doing that since the Seton Hall debacle. And our second leading scorer is hurt.

Last year we were DePaul - defeating top teams late in the year.

Point is: let's not descend on Mullin like a horde of internet locusts. Angling for the departure of Mullin is a BAD IDEA. We cannot continue this cycle of coach-killing every 5 years. We are bringing sellout crowds to NYC for our games.
OMG

You're FOS and don't know shite. Most things you say hardly makes sense and usually lack any logic.

I said MOST prognosticators had us between 2nd-4th. Trashing on Mullin.... More stupidity. You call it trashing while I call it critiquing. I'm not blinded. I'm actually an optimistic person, but I won't close my eyes to what I'm witnessing. Just keep moving the goalposts and talking foolishness. That kinda stuff is your wheelhouse.

If you wanna know about my predictions.... Ask Maher my predictions. He can tell you.
Bobby Hurley would be hungry enough and he would have a real staff that would not be outworked. Can't teach DNA or pedigree. I have yet to see a SJ team truly get better and better as the season went on with clear progression for most players with improved chemistry. All I've seen since 2011 is no chemistry and lots of athletes but few basketball players and zero good coaches. People have to realize this is our ceiling with Mullin. Barely treading water is our ceiling. This is what I sensed early on though I was killed for it. We may very well lose out including the BET and then look back on the Seton Hall game we should've had as the one that kept us out of the tourney thanks to the refs. In a weird way though, they could be expediting Mullin's departure so maybe that lands us Oates or Hurley. I still think Mullin walks away regardless of outcome after this year.
I'm pretry sure Arizona State is paying him very well. If they're not, I'm sure they would if we started calling. So, IMO, Hurley's unrealistic.

Maher's long gone lol try the liquor store.

In my opinion:

Ponds played himself into the European league
Simon played himself into a request to transfer
Heron played himself into one more year at St. John's (his choice, transfer may be an option he's consdiering)

As a side note, Williams looked good and hope that Figgy comes back

This game provided support for every negative comment directed at the staff by posters like Classof72. At this point, how can anyone argue with them? Femi, a solid big that we desperately needed, was there for the taking and was dissed on his visit. A lazy and arrogant recruiting philosophy has resulted in a near total reliance on the transfer game and a non destination for local players. We are all on a rant because of the recent play, but at some point we have to accept reality. I don't see this team winning more than 3 conference games next season, and that's with Heron coming back.

I never once was an advocate for starting over with a new staff. All I want is for Cragg to demand that the staff is comprised of people who are proven at the position they are hired for. I didn't realize, until some pointed it out, how experienced Georgetown's staff is. They are landing high school talent, and we are not. They are finding guys like McClung who were 3 stars, and Leblanc, who has a real future. They will be a top BE team next year, and we will likely finish last in the conference.

Arizona St. is 19-9 and just lost by 28 on Thursday to Oregon. They have two NBA prospects and they are in many ways identical to us in terms of lack of depth and inconsistency. They are below us in both the RPI and NET. How is Hurley an attractive candidate to those that want Mullin fired?
Agree with what a lot of you guys have said, but highly doubt Heron comes back.
Everyone operates under the assumption that another year of ball is good for development. Welp not on our team. Ponds was better suited as an NBA prospect coming out as a soph than he is a junior. Heron went from NBA hopes coming out of Auburn to having no hopes.

Alarming observation is the regression of players. Ponds has regressed, Heron and most notably Simon. Simon game in and game out, makes coachable mistakes. Yet they arent coached out of his game. He honestly has no clue what to do with the basketball and his teamates havent a clue what he is going to do with it either.

Why would any player think another year here would do them any good?

Depaul had lost 4 straight....THEY SUCK....Yet are good enough to beat a team who is really a 500 team..Ref calls made a difference but that was expected playing on the road agst a taller team, inside and out..Ponds has regressed.. is not NBA ready..Shouldn't go on a listening tour.post season....Agree with board ,we get semi bigs who can only play as statues...Better do like the Hall and get 7 FT SLUNK LIKE CHOL MARIAL..who still is available.. IF we lose out =go 8-10 and one and done in B.E tournament.. we don't deserve NCAA or NIT...end of story.. end of season..Mullin has had 5 yrs..Are we back to going 1-17?

My biggest fear is we really blow this year then Mullin resigns, were back to square 1 AGAIN!
Depends on who you bring in. Besides, I only view Mullin as mediocrity anyhow. We may have a year here and there that might get fans giddy, but I don't sense anything positive to be sustainable with him at the helm.

We're wasting time. Unless he can pull a rabbit or two outta his ass per recruiting, then cut the chord.
Would have or would like to see what Mullin could do with a staff of 2 recruiters and an experienced solid X and o assistant as he is a good figure head to have as coach ala Joe Lapchick.
Joe Lapchick was a figure head in basketball the way Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. were figure heads in their lives. They did many things but character and principal were always evident.

What are you basing that on? Do you have even a scintilla of fact to support that statement or are you basing it on what you heard from Paultz earlier in the year?

He's out on the west coast there. His name carries much more weight locally. Also, I'm sure he will be fine at ASU if he stayed. Long term he will lead them to success. He already has. Guess what? He might even get us a few big men if he's here. Crazy talk I know. Fan account on Instagram saying according to sources Mullin's walking away regardless this year. Not shocking.

Expectations change each year you play. Heron and Ponds tested the draft waters and were told they weren’t draftable as sophs. The extra year of age makes them less attractive to teams so they had to improve a good deal to make themselves draftable. I don’t believe Ponds has and I’m sure Heron hasn’t.

But this is St. John’s and going pro early has a whole new meaning here. Parents have their kids sit out to play in Serbia. Others leave early to play in low level Euro leagues. 3* recruits openly talk about only staying for a year while Nova somehow has three 5th-year seniors.

Issues with Heron and father may not be very pleased with things. Hard to see him staying under those conditions IMO.

Why do you question everything that well respected posters hear? Honest question not being difficult. I look forward to coming to the board to see what others who have inside connections have to say about the team. Certain posters have access to information. Whether it be from players directly, their handlers, coaches, reporters, others in the athletic dept. From Day 1 it was widely known Heron was here for a year. Once things are so certain its tough to turn back from there. Once these kids are set on things it's ingrained.

I'm no one special, just a big fan and alum...but it does make people want to keep quiet and sit on things when other posters demand more details then when they get them they shoot the messenger. Lose lose situation sometimes.
