(POST-GAME) @DePaul, Sun. Mar. 3, Noon, FS-1 / 970 AM

Whatever explanations or opinions expressed about today’s game , there is a undeniable truth that we played most of the second half with 2 of our Starters on the Bench with foul trouble . Again our opponent shot 42 free throws!! That is horrible . We shot 28 . DePaul outscored us by 14 from the foul line . Forget Strus. The game was again decided by the Officials . Our team , no, any team cannot play with such a huge discrepancy . And , it’s been a season long issue , starting with game 1 against Seton Hall .

On the bright side, if we end up in the NIT we might win a game in a post season tournament for the first time in a while. Woooooo

Please. It was the refs. Also could have been the Russians, or maybe the mafia. Perhaps the Trilateral Commission. No, it was Professor Plum in the parlor with the candlesticks. How about we got outplayed and outcoached.

Reaching 20 wins was important as I had said earlier. THAT may be enough for the NIT. As Beast indicated this is not an NCAA tournament team.
I've had many Mullin arguments here since the week Mullin and Mitch went AWOL for the most important recruit for this team back in May. That Femi destroyed us inside twice is frustrating.
I'm not even sure players are regressing anymore. Perhaps players like Clark, Simon, Keita and likely the sit out transfers were just never going to cut it at their previous school. While all were highly regarded out of high school sometimes that first year of college under good coaches separates the high school talent from the college talent.
I know that I stated that not one player has improved under this staff and I still think that but we have players that seem to have peaked talent-wise and Matt A has to take a hit here.
Next season may be challenging with half the team never having played together and with not one marquee star. I'm too old and too tired now to repeat what I've been saying for three years and that is, this may be just another bad hire in line of many here.
Please don't take what is going on with team on each other here. This may just be as good as it gets.

Extremely disappointing and maddening if not unpredictable. A a lot of the flaws of this team have come to the fore of late. Nothing that has not been hashed out here for several years now. But as fans, we all have to hope for a win at X and at least one in the BET.

Even if we make the tourney, a lot of soul searching by staff and remaining players is necessary.

We have to hope that the players slated to come in are good enough to make us more than competitive next year. Since other teams can reload why can’t we?

Let just now hope for a big game against X.

I don't expect a big game from St. John's because we have hit the wall with injuries and depth. I think Mullin pretty much knows it also. He's already relegated Keita behind Josh Roberts. He's playing freshmen more. He knows he's already lost Ponds and Heron. He knows Simon and Clark can't deliver a different game. He knows what he doesn't have.

I hope that this team has not quit. I can't watch another game like this.

If he knows it then he knows he is accountable. This is on mullin. Both Lavin and Roberts were better head coaches. That says more than enough.
Almost every BE game was competitive this year. It was a very balanced conference. So it's no surprise to finish close to .500. I have to imagine that fatigue set in towards the end of the season and it may have played a role in recent weeks. The rotation was really short all season even without considering a few injuries. That takes a toll on the kids as the season wears on.
This is all about undisciplined, apathetic and all around low IQ play. Love the team and will continue to root...but in 44 years as a season ticket holder I don’t believe I have been more frustrated by a Johnnies team.

For the life of me I cannot fathom how guys get 3 fouls and an alarm doesn’t go off in the players and coaches minds, that maybe I should be careful and avoid contact. I’ve never seen a team embrace fouling like this team. Almost like they don’t know that they are being counted. And, it is not all about size disadvantages. Blame goes all around from players to coaches.

I’ve defended Simon as a great contributor but believe he should never be a prime ball handler and should never, ever inbound the ball. Decision making and handle just not there. There are turnovers and then there are momentum killing turnovers. His seem to always be the latter. Needs to learn to use his left hand or he will never finish a contested layup at the rim. Should always play off the ball.

I was very tough on Lavin and he had real limitations, but never thought I'd be wondering what if we extended him after seeing our performance this year.

Lavin was absolutely not a better coach.
For heaven's sake, Lavin used to call momentum ending time-outs after WE scored a basket and we had all the momentum!!! It was the most idiotic thing ever. Lavin used to run that stupid weave that the top of the key. Lavin was worse.
I havnt lost hope on the season yet and still think we can beat close to anyone on given night but that was tough. Very tough. There isn’t a player in the BE that’s given the big FU to St John’s more than Femi. Shit if we blow this season a lot can be credited to him completely dominating us for two games we should have one, let alone what he could have done to help us this year had he chosen sju.
Epitome of how we just don’t play smart was Ponds opting for a long 3 when he had Femi with 4 fouls on the perimeter late in the game.

Today, I decided that if we do make the NCAA Tournament, I will not attend. It's expensive and the team.....well.......you all get it.

Ponds just doesn't really seem to care much out there, hope I'm wrong. Looks checked out and even though he scored 29 he did not take over. He has not been the same from the end of last year and the beginning of this year.

Stop wondering. I have no doubt that the next coach will come from pure coaching stock. Cragg would never allow his premier program to be sucked into another experimental gamble. I'm also sure any donors that care about their money will be willing to pay for another staff with a ZERO TRACH RECORD. We rewrote the book on that approach.
For those who remember, in Lavin's last season I predicted that if he lost his top recruit the school would part ways regardless of NCAA bid. Mullin signing Precious or not will basically predict his 5th year future by next month.

Beat who on any night? A Division 3 team? A JUCO? We have no chance against a team with size. None.
Marquette has size. Creighton has size. Georgetown has size. Let’s not pretend as if we’re not equally as likely to play well as we are poorly.
Agree. I think we have regressed from beginning of BE season when we would play focused and, hence well, for 30 to 35 minutes. Now it’s 7-10 minutes which is simply not good enough against any BE team.

You might want to skip watching our next game!

Femi Olujobi vs. St. John's
Game #1: -27 pts / 8 Rebs
Game #2: -23 pts / 10 Rebs

In the off-season, he visited St. John's first. Wonder if Chris had to do it all again.........would he take a trip east to meet with the kid?

Part of coaching is getting results and recruiting. Lavin exceeds Mullin in both areas. I personally don’t care for either of them, but look at the facts. Look at Lavins time hete and you will see he got better results than Mullin.
