Orlando Sanchez

This is unbelievably great news! I don't know how they did it, but they did it! How come no comment from those long time die hard fans, Joe and Miquel? Or do they only post incessantly when things aren't going well?

Don't think that's fair to say since I think it's pretty obvious that Joe3 was unfortunately banned. Would have been fun to read some of his comments about the great news today which I think even he would have been positive about. I am sure he is just itching to write something at his computer right now.
no im still here great news.overall a great day. free joe 3 lol

So let me get this straight: We get Orlando next year, we get to keep the Big East name and Joe was banned? All in the same day? It doesn't get much better then this.
but im still here lol

Did they get banned? I don't think I've noticed Joe3 in the past day or so, which is highly unusual.

I will say this: Joe3 doesn't seem to have any likable qualities at all, but I would never question that he is a fan. I think the other guy is a fraud and a troll, though.

I know a lot of posters were critical of how the Sanchez situation was handled, but the timing was right to make the NCAA look even more ridiculous than it usually is. If we play our final hand too early, the story may get brushed aside and forgotten. Missing 90 percent of the season because of three garbage-time minutes makes them look worse than had we gone to the press after five games.sorry to dissapoint you but i still live just dont post every single day . also anytime you want to test my knowledge bring it on im the biggest fan ever think before you speak go stjohns.

Orr needs to show up to a game so he can get a standing ovation. And Sanchez's perserverence and desire for an education should be commended.

I knew you were still here because you posted about not thinking Gonzaga was for real the other day. Big win for them tonight in a tough environment. I couldn't figure out who else besides Joe3 was booted though since there was a post saying that it was a few posters removed, not just one.

The eligibility for Sanchez fuills the biggest void (IMO) that this team has, so that is a terrific thing, both for Orlando as well as the team. That alone should dramatically improve the team for next year.

The retention of the Big East name is also a terrific development, as that name, its cache, its hitory and connotation is an important carry-over for the C-7.

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Great news albeit late about Sanchez. Also, let's be clear, this was not an academic issue. His academics were fine.

Desperately need NCAA reforms,

Lastly, was Joe3 really banned or was this one of his "I am leaving and not posting here again" threats (well to us it was like please, please follow through on this promise) which would last 2 or 3 days at the most?

LOL

You're cold, monte.

Probably better that we get Orlando next year than this year. This team has just gone under a maturation process and with Orlando we have a great chance at a Final Four as was noted in today's story by Lenn Robbins in the NY Post.

Final Four? What the heck are we smoking? We are so far away it's laughable.

George Mason, VCU and Butler fans were crazier for similar thoughts.

In the years they made the final four they were all better than we are right now and if something drastically doesnt happen next year as well.

Congrats Orlando, lets do big things next year. It will be your showcase, shine on national TV in the Mecca, in NYC. The big lights will be glaring down on you, better put on the shades like Wade did. lol
I gotta ask. Does he make up for losing Lawrence? I know he`s much older then Lawrence.

I`m guessing from what I hear is that he`ll be more then just making up for losing Lawrence

I've been thinking about this for awhile but I expect more scrutiny on our program and recruits going forward by the NCAA. The staff should definitely stay away from questionable recruits and fully vet the players they're going after. No more kids with academic issues either. The NCAA will undoubtedly want to zing us down the road.

Very true.

I suspect that lavin already had a target on his back when before he came here, due to suspicion he was very slick and probably slipped through their fingers multiple times while at UCLA.
He needs to be extra vigilant now for as long as he is a college coach.

Slipped thru their fingers?
Um ok.

Due to "suspicion" that he probably did, due to his constant great recruiting sucess and his "slick" image.

There maybe something to the whole NCAA - UCLA - Lavin thing. My neighbor, a southern California guy who works for ESPN, has made mention of something along those lines...

Also, the NCAA clears him two days after Dana O'Neill's excellent piece "A final shot for Orlando Sanchez" on ESPN.com.

That is some coincidence, isn't it?

Congrats to Orlando and his family and THANK YOU to Robert Orr!

Gotta tip my cap to the NCAA for finally getting it right
Also give coach ,staff and SJU kudos This kid is a great one.

Now that Orlando is approved for next year - are their any good you tube or other videos of him showing how he plays?

Here is one of his JUCO games when Monroe was participating in the NJCAA Tournament last season:

Here is another one from when Sanchez was participating in the Pro-Am games last summer (he played with Dyckman):

There are several games on YouTube, per Sanchez in the Pro-Am games. You may can "Google" NJCAA Tournament from last season, and find a link to the remainder of Monroe's games in the JUCO National Tournament.
