Official Seton Hall Game Thread

and i want to add a compliment to the coach for the deliberate miss of the second foul shot.
It was a risk but I thought it was very important to take that risk of someone hitting a two after an inbound.
If they hit a three with more time we would have lost anyway, so this reduced time so that getting the ball all the way down for a two was unlikely to happen.
In effect he cut their chance of making a winning three all the way down.
Someone called him an ass for that call but I was yelling at the tv for him to do exactly that.
It's about time we won a few close ones and about time he gets credit for coaching decisions in which the results back his play.

Whew. why doesn't this feel good.

Because we played like crap against an undermanned team and barely escaped with our lives. The refs sucked but we were our own worst enemies with the constant mindless unforced turnovers

could be the understatement of the year :)

When it wasn't looking so good, I dreaded reading one of meangene's gloom and doom posts.

And Dom catches the INT.

Hello Georgetown
Something wrong with guys thinking they just gatta keep knocking Dom. He was 4-5 from the field, made a couple of big free throws, got us 6 boards and a couple of assists. Most of the guys had iffy games. RJ makes a great pass and CO makes the clutch FT. I figure they share player of the game. We win a road game when all the guys had piss to poor games. Lets rip them all and claim to love SJU hoops. Some guys musta loved the year we were rooting against the team so Norm would get fired. Anyone wanna go back there? Sorry to be so wordy.

What in 98's post suggested he was knocking on Dom?
Jack, there was nothing in 98's post that he was knocking Dom. I only follow up on his saying Dom caught the inbound. Dom was repeatedly catching it, and thats what my post was about. We need all the guys, and ripping them getting to me. Ordinarily I'm not a volume poster, but why all the nastiness this year?

It was totally the right call. Whoever said he was an ass was dead wrong.

You're right. he deserves credit for that

We just completed our first sweep of the season. ... Can't look more than 1 game ahead, but this was huge. ...

Our first sweep ... by a total of two points! Agree, this was huge. A loss could have ended our season.

Are you sure it was deliberate? Just kidding. Maybe. No it was definitely deliberate. I can't tell you how many times I saw kids miss the rim on a deliberate miss try, usually ramming it off backboard.

It was the right call with 2.1 remaining but you usually want a long bounce or to hit bottom of rim and carom to floor.

It will be very entertaining rereading this thread tomorrow

Dom is very good going to basket, not a bad free throw shooter and showed a bit of a mid range game. Fans get on him for the turnovers and the ticky-tack fouls... and the elbows he sometimes wants to throw around.
He contributes for sure, he just have to keep on refining his game.

Did anyone else think he walked at the end before Sampson's dunk?

Dom walks and/or almost turns it over before his does 90% of scoring/assisting off the bounce. He gets away with it against the likes of SH, but it's not a formula for future success.

Mathematically, by the absolute slimmest of margins, huh? Could easily have been two losses. That's how slim the difference between a good team and a bad team can be.

We just completed our first sweep of the season. One big step in going over .500 and continue march towards an at large bid. Can't look more than 1 game ahead, but this was huge.

for the first time this season IMO, we can begin to talk seriously about an NCAA bid. We can afford only one more conference loss, and we don't want to get it anytime soon.

Very true.
With road games vs Nova & Marqette still ahead, they really cant afford to lose Sunday.

Just ask Syracuse. They could have lost twice to Pitt.

Anxiety filled game and yet it turned into a very big win for us! Watching on TV I could swear SJ fans were numerous given the inclement weather. I especially appreciated the fan with the REDMEN shirt! LOL!
19 turnover kept the Pirates in the game but thank God Chris Opekpa is finally part of the offense and our wizard is learning when to sit Harrison and Jakarr at key parts of the game. They alone accounted for 7 of the turnovers but the offense is finally no longer D'Lo one-on-one.
I will say it again, every game will be a big game and that is what is making this season so special. Gtown will be just as difficult and just as close since they are starting to play well after the Smith departure. Win that game and some of the departed fans will be back.
Again, kudos to the fans that made the game at the Rock and supported the team. You guys get an assist in the win!

He misses way too many layups.

If we beat Gtown I think we beat Butler and then Nova on the road. If we can do that then I think we run the table the rest of the way

But every game is a 1 game season right now. BEAT GTOWN

These Seton Hall squeakers should stop people from complaining about the Providence and DePaul games. We are owed one more squeaker against a team we should beat to make up for Penn State. (DePaul or Butler)

Wow...I take a dump, and now we're winning..Should I stay in there the rest of the game?

It was pretty obvious who the MVP was tonight....*blows on knuckles*

You're nickname will now be Deuce :)
