Official Seton Hall Game Thread

To me, this was one of the most dangerous games on the schedule. Ugly win. But this didn't sink us.

Hopefully the players don't think that way; we are certainly not good enough to consider any game anything but dangerous. Great, great pass by Jordan and equally great catch by Obekpa. For all the complaining about the refs who I thought had a decent game, I thought the last foul should have been intentional. An obvious push in the back in no way constitutes playing the ball and is very dangerous when a player is leaving his feet.

I agree. Also, how did they miss the guy dribble the ball before he passed on the last play?

We won despite 19 turnovers.
We dodged a big one.
That's hard to do. Have to cut those down on Sunday night.

Positives:
Jordan's jumpers in the first half.
Greene's spot up shooting in 1st half. He's shooting 40% from three... he's becoming effective.
Sampson passing out of the post.
Very good team free throw shooting.
Jordan with some awesome passing, especially with the cojones to pass to Obekpa at the end of the game.
Obekpa showing soft hands receiving tough passes.
Dom showing a bit of a mid-range game.

Didn't like:
Tons of turnovers - almost all the players...

Very pleased with this W. We needed to go 2-0 last week, it happened. We need to go 2-0 this week and half that job is done. If we win on Sunday we are on the right side of the bubble. That doesn't mean anything other than we have played ourselves into contention. Can't ask for anything more after an 0-5 start. Really pumped for Sunday

We've played great at MSG recently. It needs to continue. If we beat Georgetown we are in good shape, especially with butler coming up

And Dom catches the INT.

Hello Georgetown
Something wrong with guys thinking they just gatta keep knocking Dom. He was 4-5 from the field, made a couple of big free throws, got us 6 boards and a couple of assists. Most of the guys had iffy games. RJ makes a great pass and CO makes the clutch FT. I figure they share player of the game. We win a road game when all the guys had piss to poor games. Lets rip them all and claim to love SJU hoops. Some guys musta loved the year we were rooting against the team so Norm would get fired. Anyone wanna go back there? Sorry to be so wordy.

IMO, refs were fine, we sucked. Having said that, it is great to win when you play that poorly and hopefully we go back to playing good ball on Sunday. Win and move on..............

The refs were bad but equally bad to both teams.

Didn't see it that way at all; until the last play, which I thought was obviously intentional I don't remember a call that made me shake my head. I'm sure there were but refs make dozens of call a game, they are going to get some of them wrong.

Good win in a classic trap game.

CO goes from almost being the goat to gamewinner.

I hope everyone in attendance (all 163 of them) make it home safely.

How was he almost the goat?

It was a tie game.

He kept it close with the goaltending. Even the announcer (TT?) said that CO needs to learn when to back off. CO did an admirable job of redeeming himself at the end and for that deserves full credit.

What in 98's post suggested he was knocking on Dom?

Dom is very good going to basket, not a bad free throw shooter and showed a bit of a mid range game. Fans get on him for the turnovers and the ticky-tack fouls... and the elbows he sometimes wants to throw around.
He contributes for sure, he just have to keep on refining his game.

And how about CO calmly sinking that foul shot!

Knew this would be a tight game, but with both Teague and Oliver out, I thought maybe it wouldn't be as tough as it turned out to be. Just don't get why Seton Hall always gives us a hard time.

Did anyone else think he walked at the end before Sampson's dunk?

Whew. why doesn't this feel good.

It should. Road wins in the Big East aren't easy. I thought they were done when they were down four around two minutes. Great comeback. Lesser teams try to make it ugly...they succeeded.
Our RPI will be nicely rewarded for this.

Survive and advance mode.

Yikes! I can't believe I forgot to list Chris's foul shot... He definitely is getting much smoother on the free throw line.

Another win we march on. Proud of the team and staff for not giving up, CO what an improvement. Gtown will be fun!

We just completed our first sweep of the season. One big step in going over .500 and continue march towards an at large bid. Can't look more than 1 game ahead, but this was huge.

for the first time this season IMO, we can begin to talk seriously about an NCAA bid. We can afford only one more conference loss, and we don't want to get it anytime soon.

Didn't catch what you are referring to but if you mean Mobley throwing inbounds unless they changed the rule he can bounce the ball as long as he doesn't move his feet. Back in my day (a looooong time ago) we used to bounce the ball to signal the team to start running the out of bounds play.

Whew. why doesn't this feel good.

Because we played like crap against an undermanned team and barely escaped with our lives. The refs sucked but we were our own worst enemies with the constant mindless unforced turnovers

Are you a crisis counselor? Your posts are so uplifting.

these in game threads are a perfect place to vent. I'm no good at rah rah

Yeah I thought he walked. Edwin might have too prior to that and wasn't called. What a crazy ugly game. We'll take it. Must play much better against Georgetown.
