Nuri Leaving

Thanks Moose, I was just going to post it too. Your coach is battling cancer and all you think is that he isnt teaching me.

His quotes in the press release about Lavin not coaching him are lacking class IMO.

Why in the world would the SID allow those quotes in an STJ press release?!?

It just adds fuel to the "Lav isn't here so I don't want to be here" pale that hangs over this program.

Agree and transparent self-pity to boot.

The irony is in the feelings expressed towards his teammates.

An odd way of showing it.

Exactly the same as my first reaction. Forget Lindsey, this is not good for anything else.

Well it can make him look really stupid. Could work out in our favor kind of.

I agree. How about editing before releasing?!

I think it shows Nuri in a bad light. not sure if that was the point, of leaving it, but with what Lavin is doing for cancer awarness, this does not look good for nuri. I think other recruits will look at this as an isolated issue. when Lavin returns to the sidelines kids interested in st johns will see that things are back to normal.

He said it on twitter. At least he doesn't have delusions of the NBA right now...

I would assume most major programs would be VERY wary of taking a 22 yo who just quit on his team/coach, but I do wish him luck at wherever he ends up.

I can't believe other posters( other than me) aren't pissed about this. People wishing him luck? Huh? He quit after 9 games knowing how thin the roster is. Then he says he wanted to play for coach Lav, but it hasn't worked out like he envisioned? Well we didnt envision you missing 2 free throws with the A & M game on the line, or dribbling the ball off your leg 3 times vs Detroit.. get lost

now Nuri is saying that he will go to another program. dont see it, but who knows.

I still do not believe he'll play college basketball again. I could be wrong, but time will tell.

the story was big enough that wfan reported it. hope lavin can continue to recruit.

I heard what Francesa said earlier-- he also said STJ has been playing only 6 guys? It's 7 guys Mike. And Kentucky would have beaten STJ even worse if Kentucky didnt miss 40 lay ups and 40 free throws

Program is falling apart fast

Yes. Tragedy. St. John's basketball future hinges on the transfer of a kid who was here for less than a semester.

Hurts for this season; minimal impact after that.

Program is falling apart fast

This year is falling apart, but I don't know about the whole program.

It's just going to take longer then we all hoped for, IMO.

The problem is that most of us had our patience stretched to the limit during the Norm years. Hate to ask for it, but we all need to take a deep breath, and show even more patience. Last year earned this staff the benefit of the doubt, IMO (even if I said otherwise back in September, but that was a snap reaction rant).
