NIL’s

Have to be 3 years out of HS school class to enter draft NFL rule upheld in court. Maurice Clarret OSU running back challenged in court and lost. No one has tried to challenge since.

Couldn't happen to a better person. UM got jobbed by Terry Porter and those thieves in the NC.

You think they dropped that much coin on Downs? No doubt they are amongst the biggest spenders in NIL, but 3 mill for Downs seems unlikely.

Miami got cam for two!

Nonetheless, every team you mentioned spent big on NIL. Records are indicative of it.

I had never heard of Cam Downs until it was mentioned on Fantasy Focus today that he's Josh's brother.

See that's how little I know about cam downs, I didn't know his name was Caleb. I do know Cam Ward from Miami. That's his last name right?
Yes Cam Ward is Miami’s QB but also heard this Downs kid was the real deal. Don’t know anything about Josh Downs.

Led Bama in tackles last year as a freshman and was a first team All American. This years freshman WR Ryan Williams will be offered the moon to transfer. Takes him 1.5 seconds to reach top speed and he has a world of speed and needless to say can catch the football Lynn Swannesque.

I’ve seen Williams and he is unbelievable and only 17. Reclassified and graduated high school a year early..

I stopped by the Outpost in Harrisonburg, Va. (basically an off campus JMU paraphernalia store owned by JMU Alums) and they were selling Jersey’s with player names on it (two or three different players) with their numbers. Some of the proceeds go directly to the players for each jersey sold.

Saw a stat that approximately 1,100 players entered the portal, approx. 860 committed to other schools and approx. 15 returned to their original school. Don’t quote me on those numbers. Just trying to find which players were victimized by the transfer portal but can’t find any list. Wondering if any good players have to sit out?

The PAC-12 should forget Rice, Texas State, UConn, Memphis, Tulane, UTEP, UTSA and go right JMU. Their Athletic department is a well oiled machine their attendance is already comparable to the new pax-12 and they trendline is like Bitcoin from 2000 to 2001.

Also they have fun NIL merch like this.

“The argument of restricting NIL earning ability is similar to the case made by several state attorneys general last year that ultimately led the NCAA to remove its one-year free transfer restriction earlier. It also led many in the industry to wonder when an athlete would sue over the NCAA limit of four years of eligibility in the first place. Pavia’s argument is instead more narrow, focusing on junior college rules and redshirt rules.”

The second to last paragraph has me concerned. People are complaining now about the Covid year plus redshirt seasons but imagine if players could stay in school for as long as they want with no cap. No more need to redshirt just keep as there would be no cap.

Agree, he is too quick with the trigger with public, player specific “stuff” imo.
The time for "feeling bad" for players charging 6 figures for their services are over!
Their agents negotiate like 10th Avenue pimps and they are professionals in every sense of the word without having to honor a contract beyond one basketball season.

It has nothing to do with feeling bad for the player, it is just not the way it should be done if the player's are “handling it” because they are absolutely NOT when the coach is discussing it with the media, just more Pitino BS as far as I am concerned.

Has nothing to do with NIL or players being paid. Would be same bad look if Thibs was doing it with a Knicks chemistry issue.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you are being naive to think NIL doesn't factor in situations like this. Kadary Richmond was benched last season for a couple of games.
The circumstances were obfuscated by PR folks but some coaches are fed up with changed relationships post NIL.
A great coach at the University of Virginia chose to retire rather than deal with the bullshit.
Give me players with a "team" mindset over some of these gold miners.
For you I would use Davidson and their basketball philosophy as an example.
It was a pleasure watching a bunch of "student-athletes" school a Big East Providence team in basketball fundamentals.

Fair enough Rocket. Still think this stuff should be kept in house but get your point and do love my Davidson Wildcats.
