NIL’s

I didn’t say I liked it. I am only saying all cards should be placed face up on the table.
i agree... none of us "like" it... but cmon... youre kidding yourself if you don't think it doesnt happen already... really... Panther- you don't think we had BHop lined up with his NIL deal mid season...?

To quote our former CIC... "C'mon maannn" lol

The issue is the NCAA. There's no going back to the old model, and I'm thrilled about it. The old model was just a lot of corrupt and under the table stuff, and very selective punishment/investigation. How fundamentally different, absent the transfer rules, is the landscape now?

If there was a competent professional league who had actual legal power to control this, the product would be much better. Limit transfer rules, treat the players like pro athletes with a union of some sort (being employees of the school doesn't make sense), and have a cap that is legitimate like pro sports where its scrutinized and there's harsh penalties for any team.

You may lose interest, but you may also just say screw it and get a jolt of excitement.

We have often said that we are done with college sports if “X” happens. But that “X” usually does happen and every time the needle moves more and more towards college becoming professional sports., we are still here.

I am approaching it as since players are being promised money from another school during the season, those players may not go all out, fearing an injury which could nullify the NIL deal.

Your third paragraph says it all, and if this goes through college sports may be ruined forever.

For example, if a player at School A is getting 1 million in NIL money but playing at such a high level, School B offers him 4 million for the next year. How does he react if School A plays School B in the NCAA tournament. Situations such as this, mid season transfers, and many other scenarios would completely turn me off regarding college sports.

Kranmars just got his agent’s license Panther. 😇

I think the sport will get much better when there’s a players union and collective bargaining that can put legal restraints on things like player movement but guarantee and formalize reasonable player compensation.

However, it may take 10+ years to get there bc the NCAA is hoping the government will just impose something on the players so they don’t have to make a fair deal. So in the meantime we’re going to have constantly moving goalposts like the CSC disallowing/allowing collectives, G league players coming in, 7 year seniors, maybe return of under the table money, etc.
