New York Mets-2018

I like the move over bob Melvin, maybe bloom would’ve been the safe play but maybe Brodie will be a shot of new blood and Hopefully pays off

I don’t know if I can subject my soon to be born son to being a Mets fan. We are a laughing stock. Kira is a Yankees fan and I think I’m giving the ball to her.

In my household it is the opposite with me being the Yankee fan and her being the Met fan.

What it must be like to be a Boston sports fan. Basically every one of their teams routinely competes for and wins championships. Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, and even UConn not long ago. New York sports have been an absolute abomination especially if you're a Mets, Isles, Knicks, Jets fan. you literally have to go back 40-50+ years or so for some of them.

Well the current generation is lucky. I have 3 goods friends here in London that are from Mass. They have never experienced losing in their lives. They should be very thankful for this run because things could get ugly again as Yanks fans can attest to in the 80s. Their parents were luck to have the Celtics and Bruins in the 80s, but had decades on nothing in baseball and football.

Diaz which is really the big part of this and Cano for a bunch of crap and the Mets last 3 first round picks. Supposedly close.
Hate giving up the kid they just drafted and last 2 or 3 years of Cano going to be a disaster but if they don't trade Thor the team is def going to be much better the next two years.

Trading McNeil and 2 top prospects for a 36 year old steroid user with 5 years and $120 mill left on his contract in order to get a bonafide closer when the FA market is loaded with bullpen talent is just about the most Mets move I’ve ever heard.

Probably right but Diaz is better than anyone out there and not sold on McNeil. Sort of lefty TJ Rivera

Trading for a 36 year old with 5 years left is insane. The game changed permanently in 2013 with increased testing. Careers start
to end at 30 now.

Cano will be lower T than Fordham96 by March without then needle in his ass.

I'm pretty sure our new gm is in cahoots with Cano and Cano willl give him $10 million and then he will quit the mets and go back to being an agent

Getting fleeced if this goes through.......

Andy Martino
@martinonyc
Its getting late. Feel good about my reporting but not my typing. As just said on @SNYtv, deal right now is: Cano and Diaz for Bruce, Swarzak, DUNN, Kelenic and Bautista. I forgot to type Dunn in last tweet so I'm deleting it.
McNeil was in deal but isn't right now. Deal not done

This trade makes no sense the Mariners are dying to get rid of canos contract , how do we end up giving up two of our top prospects in this deal. Diaz is good but there are plenty of good free agent relievers that they could have signed rather then making this stupid trade. They will regret this trade in a few years every expert thinks Kelenic is a future star.

Diaz gives you three years of control, probably less dollars per year (through arbitration) and is younger than what is available on the market. I loved Cano when he was in the Bronx but at 36 you do have to wonder what is left in the tank. You are also getting rid of an under performer with a bad contract (Bruce). I don’t know anything about the prospects you are giving up and it also depends on how much the Mariners are kicking in.

If you are making this trade it appears you are going for it in 2019 so why are you trying to trade Syndergard (sp)? If they do it has to be for something that helps now, not prospects.

The new deal, according to Passan, includes Bruce, Swarzak, Kelenic, Dunn and one more minor leaguer. Mcneil is no longer included. I really don't like the idea of giving up Kelenic, but our scouts have been pretty crappy on picking prospects. How many of our 5 tool outfielders have actually come to fruition? We still have 5 tool Desmond Lindsey in the organization to save the day...

I'm not a huge fan of the deal, but it does give us a viable middle of the order player and a stud reliever. The org needs to refill the propsects. Our prospects suck because we keep whiffing on high round picks.
