New York Mets-2018

Woke up early and just saw the Mets signed
Jeurys Familia for 3 years/30 million. Not sure what to make of this move.
It basically turned the last trade to Díaz, Cano and Familia since they are using the saved money for familia. It certainly blusters the bullpen. Still need a catcher upgrade.
Need a catcher and more hitting
An 8th inning setup man is nice to have but we have more glaring and pressing needs
Given the limited resources available, I would have spent the $$$ elsewhere

There hasn’t been much written about him but the little I found seems to infer that he is expected to compete in spring training for a utility position.

Having Degrom and Thor being able to hand the ball to Familia/Diaz will give you a lot of chances for wins. The roster is upgraded since last year but hopefully not done.

If you can't score runs, you can't win ballgames no matter how good your pitching is
Just ask the 2018 Cy Young Award winner

With most pitchers burning 105 pitches by the 5th or 6th inning, strong middle relief can win pennants. Familia can cover the 8th and give Diaz some help closing games to avoid fatigue. Good move

We need two lefties in the pen. Almost every other team we face has multiple lefties.

I think Brodie was just trying to motivate Thor a bit. You don't trade a player like that if you want to win. He has a World Series win on his resume and a dominant elimination wild card game in 2016. He's basically a lock for one win per playoff series and next to the deGrominator that's huge. How do you beat a team that can potentially send out Thor and deGrom 4-5 games out of a 7 game series? And with Wheeler and Matz behind them! Just be okay on offense.

I don't read it that way. There's always an offer you can't refuse, and if you say something like that you may get your phone ringing.

Probably one more outfielder and a reliever or two.

Almost every good team we played had two solid lefties. The kid we brought up at the end of the year showed some ability(Daniel Zamora). Wish we would spring for one strong lefty and Pollack.

Oh, anyone can be traded with the right offer...even Trout. Andujar AND Realmuto would have been the tipping point for me and I want Thor to be here for a decade.

Brodie was Thor's agent and Thor seemed to be beyond cool during the whole process, make funny tweets. It leads me to believe he was privy to a discussion with Brodie about it that put him at ease.

I didn’t like the Seattle trade but with signing Fsmilia and Ramos it makes me warm up to the trade as now at least I have hope for next year

It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway... please proceed with caution.

Matt Harvey signed a 1 year, 11 million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California, USA, North America, Western Hemisphere, Terra, Sol System, Milky Way Galaxy. I wish I could disappoint at my job with those results.

Daniel Murphy signs a 2 year, 24 million dollar deal with the Rockies. It will be interesting to see his numbers after 81 at Coors.
