NCAA Tournament Discussion

Whooo! Great win for Michigan State. Kind of a chalk sweeet 16, but only 1 of top seeds gets to Final Four. Kentucky, Duke, UNC & Kansas all out - pretty cool.
I picked Duke for this region before Tourney but I actually like Michigan St today. Think they are playing great and love their size and Winston is tremendous. I think they are going to beat Duke today.

Shame they lost Josh Langford earlier this year or they would be that much better.
This team is Tom Izzo personified. Tough as nails.

Btw Dan Fife is going to get a job soon.

Coach K such a “genius” coach but kept drawing up plays for RJ Barrett when he has Zion on his team. Nice job

Seeing Duke lose actually eases some of the pain from last night. Duke couldn’t get lucky for a third game in a row.

For all those that think Duke always gets the calls their being so far under the foul limit for the opponent to shoot the 1 and 1 cost them any chance to win the game at the end. Guess you can call that poetic justice.

Great Weekend of College Basketball.

Two things that stood out for these last four days of basketball were the parity of the teams and the effort put out by the players in all,the games. No one went thru the motions.

Both games today kept me glued to my seat!
Y’day’s games were almost as good.
It’s been a great NCAA Tournament.
Great hoops!

Something else that I also noted was that the coaches were very animated and involved at all times. Did not see anyone passive on the bench. A guy like Pearl is up and coaching each and every possession, both offensively and defensively. At times the guy looks like he is going to have a stroke.

Great weekend of college hoops. Looking forward to a week where our own staff/player situation starts to shake out, although I will trust nothing I read here tomorrow...

Saw the movie Us today and when I just took the garbage out was praying I wouldn't see a lookalike family walking down our driveway...

Barrett drove the lane got fouled and had a chance to tie the game. Looked like a good play to me. Izzo is a great coach also but the shot that wound up winning the game was a three made by someone other than his best player who had 20 points at the time.

That's funny, RMN, he does!
As does Izzo often.
Luv Izzo, a truly great coach.

It's interesting. Izzo is great coach. Top 5 college coach for me. But in terms of a coaching tree besides Crean there isn't much at all.

Zion hit a tough contested layup to put duke up 3 with about 2 minutes left.

He barely touched the ball again; and never attempted another shot. If I were a duke fan I’d be sick that my best player never got a look with the game on the line

I don't know if this has been mentioned here already but I thought it was ironic that three of our players / former players have their transfer (to or from) school in the final four. Owens to Texas Tech, Heron from Auburn and Clark from Michigan State. I know that with the proliferation of transfers this can happen, but I would venture a guess that we are probably the only school with this type of connection to three of the four teams in the final four.

The lesson here is you're better off if you transfer out...and worse off if you stay.

Owens would not have been as good here as he is at TT IMO. Owens has much better supporting talent with tons of legit size and great coaching. He is being developed there and there's a plan. He said it all being quoted, "What I love about the TT coaches is they don't just tell you what you need to work on, but they also show you exactly how to do it" clearly implying that he was never developed at SJ.
