NCAA Tournament Discussion
Kudos to TT for oithistling and outplaying Gonzaga. And hats off to Tariq for playing tough and smart.
Curious, the refs seemed to favor Tx Tech late in the game. Guess the Zags are not the equal of Duke in the NCAAs hierarchy of programs.
I think TT was th better team today so it likely wouldn’t have mattered.
But Duke is ‘alive’ because of the refs’ actions in 2 straight games.
Unbelievable.
Duke is alive because of an invisible leprechaun sitting on top of the rim flicking last second shots away.

If he was by himself did he know you were spying on him?
Were you stalking him or looking for an invite? ;)

When you are your friends are walking to go get food it’s pretty hard to miss this 6’11 lanky guy smoking

He used to smoke at the outdoor basketball court too which everyone that lives on campus passes all the time

If that is true then the rest of the team should have toked too because no one played harder than Tariq when it was game time. BTW, didn't you think it odd that a high profile athlete was toking alone? It is usually a communal experience so I guess indirectly we can conclude he was not close to his teammates. Frankly, I don't think any of our players are close but I'll leave that to your eyewitness accounts.

Not sure why any of this stuff is necessary on the biggest night of a former Johnny's life, a kid who always gave us 100% on the court; I could care less what he did off of it.
Gonzaga plays a good OOC schedule. But you have to wonder if playing in that weak conference hurts them at tourney time.
. Good point . Other than their principal Rival , St Mary’s , their Conference historically has been weak . They are a good team but , turned it over more than usual vs Texas Tech . I was surprised Clarke wasn’t more a factor down the stretch for the Zags . TT turned over the Zags a lot on bad handles by Perkins and Huchimura . TT played tough D . Excellent game to watch .

I think our teammates are close for the most part. I have no inside knowledge on this and am not presenting this as a fact, but I do get the feeling Heron did not get along with a lot of the guys this season based on what I saw
People forget Owen's started at Tennessee.

You think UT fans care?
Not nearly the same. He played at UT and averaged like 1 point a game. He played a big role here for us for years.

Kinda like how no ones mentioned Yankuba Sima’s name in forever. He really didn’t have a major role here, hence forgotten

Why cause they lost a close game to a great team in the elite eight?
No, because with one exception, they have a history of losing close games in the Regionals.

Oh I know but the bigger reason is Tennessee is good enough not to care.

I was hoping SJU would be in the same position now...I was wrong.

You think UT fans care?
. Good one . You can be assured Vols fans don’t care about Tarik . One thing in this game , I didn’t see Tarik jacking up many of the 3’s he threw up last year . Nor, did he seem to grab a lot of rebounds . Give him credit , he blocked shots , like he did here . The BE seems to be a much more physical league than the Leagues the Zags and Raiders play in ..Nevertheless, he played well in his role .

That’s true but the refs are in the mix also, imo.

It's totally irrelevant and only served to tarnish a former player who gave 100 percent in 3 futile years in this program.

Gonzaga has been to like 7 sweet 16s, 5 elite eights, and 1 National championship game in the past 10 years.

I wonder how many “power 5” teams would sign up for that?

I know a certain NY based big east team that has fans who would do some unspeakable things to have that kind of postseason success

You must be kidding me!! Tariq had 5 blocks and 7 rebounds, the most on his team and the second most of anyone in the game. If you watched him play with TT, you would see that he is well coached and plays both great man to man and team defense. There is a reason he is playing 30 plus minutes on a final four team and was in consideration for defensive player of the year. The Big 12 was a much better conference than the BE this year and the best defensive conference in the country.
WOW!!!!!
I'm an advocate for fouling up three. I've always said that if I lose a game (or get sent to OT), because my opponent can execute that, I'll sleep easy at night.

So you think Purdue is going to sleep easy tonight? LOL (not directed at you). There is no perfect strategy obviously.

Two great games.

Great game by Edwards a shame it basically ended on his turnover.
