NCAA Tournament Discussion

Gonzaga plays a good OOC schedule. But you have to wonder if playing in that weak conference hurts them at tourney time.

Why cause they lost a close game to a great team in the elite eight?

This dude who used to smoke weed by himself in the ROTC parking lot at St. John’s university is going to the final four. Wow

Did you feel that way last year about Owens?

I wouldn't have traded LJ, Ponds or Heron for him but I did not want to see him go..
It was pretty clear that the Owen's had soured on our staff by Fall 2017. Nothing got mended. We were led to think Keita was a suitable replacement but we know how that worked out. Davide Moretti is a bigger and better version of Mussini and yes, Owens would have been more valuable than anyone not named Ponds. Heron has nothing to do with this argument as he fell into our hands and even his game deteriorated under the personal guidance of Mitch Richmond.

Doughery averaged 7 pts per game this year Heron averaged what 16.5 as a soph heading into his junior year.
Heron did the same thing as a freshman too. With everyone coming back and adding Doughy his role wasn’t going to increase.

Heron may have been ranked 5* but he hasn’t earned that in college. Elijah Ingram was 5* and a McDonald’s All-American.
If this ridiculous conspiracy theory were true it would mean MH was chased out of Auburn by a guy Mullin and staff didn't want in the first place. LOL

It was a great block by Tariq but , he was out of bounds when he threw it in to play . Reggie called it correctly , Owens foot had come down out of bounds before he threw it in . Moretti ? We had 1 for 2 years and he was a very good shooter , Mussini . We could have used a Mussini the last 2 Seasons on this team who had questionable shooters . But, many posters here are enamored with high flying Athletes . Mussini took a lot of undeserved criticism . He was a capable scorer , just like Moretti . We need that kind of shooter on next Year’s team ..

When you are your friends are walking to go get food it’s pretty hard to miss this 6’11 lanky guy smoking

He used to smoke at the outdoor basketball court too which everyone that lives on campus passes all the time

Great game, TT is a pleasure to watch and Tariq has done nothing to hurt his chances of making a good living professionally, likely overseas, but you never know.

I’ll go into why I disagree when you post the same exact post in some other thread in an hour or two
When did Owens learn how to play on the man defense?
Just took some coaching.

If that is true then the rest of the team should have toked too because no one played harder than Tariq when it was game time. BTW, didn't you think it odd that a high profile athlete was toking alone? It is usually a communal experience so I guess indirectly we can conclude he was not close to his teammates. Frankly, I don't think any of our players are close but I'll leave that to your eyewitness accounts.

Kudos to TT for oithistling and outplaying Gonzaga. And hats off to Tariq for playing tough and smart.
Curious, the refs seemed to favor Tx Tech late in the game. Guess the Zags are not the equal of Duke in the NCAAs hierarchy of programs.
I think TT was th better team today so it likely wouldn’t have mattered.
But Duke is ‘alive’ because of the refs’ calls/non-calls in 2 straight games.
Unbelievable.

"Would have traded anyone not named Ponds for Moretti and Owens" was your comment so that includes Heron regardless of how he got here. I have no comment either for or against Moretti who did hit a few huge shots. As far as why he left, whether he soured on us or it was his father or both, it doesn't really matter. He left and I agree it was a huge loss. It still would have been a loss even if Keita was as good as some thought he would be because Owens had role which he played for two seasons. He would have been a starter, another big body, one who could block shots, hit the occasional shot, played with intensity and could play help defense.

Like your first two years at St. John's I rarely post anymore and I mentioned Davide Moretti 2 other times all year. If you are referring to my view that Mitch Richmond has been useless I am guilty as charged but you are 3 years too late for that opinion.
