Is/was Jordan worth all the drama? In a word, no.
Contrast him with D'Angelo Harrison, who despite the issues that derailed and nearly destroyed him, always had a vision and inner determination to persevere and be successful. Just consider that he chose Communications as a major, looking past his playing days.
Rysheed is the result of having a singular interest in school - as a means of furthering his basketball career. Even then, removing academics, there are just so many minor-moderate disciplinary infractions.
He is an immense talent, but his game is so unrefined and inconsistent that until (if/when) he matures and improves his basketball career is going nowhere.
Despite telling friends he is gone, I believe Mullin will attempt to talk sense into him, along the lines of , "Come back to St. John's, do what you gotta do academically, and you miss a few unimportant games. We'll give you all the help you need academically, and that will be your main priority in the fall. Don't throw it away. I'm here for you."
My bet? 70-30, he will be back in school in December, with a carefully selected academic load.
Word to Jordan. Stop being a dumbass and prima dona. Your good, but not THAT good - yet.
