More Jordan Problems?

At this point Jordan's future at SJU looks very bleak. He is a very troubled teen who makes a bad decision after bad decision. Administration is willing to help him but, most importantly he must realize that his street friends are not the voice of reason. This drama should be resolved in the upcoming weeks.

FWIW according to NBAdraft.net, Sheed will turn 21 next week.

According to his Instagram, he is turning 21 and having a party in Philly June 13th.

This kid will not change until he eliminates the bad influences from home. Until then, he will be more harm than good for this team.

He's got to be in summer school very soon or already, so if anyone has any information on that, it would be telling.

No one was able to tell us if he was even attending regular school the second semester. Although with a lot less kids around, maybe it'll be a lot easier to spot the 6'5" athletic looking kid strolling around campus lol

Agree with what you're saying, except I do not see him being given enough leeway to have the ability to hurt the team. That is if he is even still on the team come next season.

Jordan deserves most of the criticism he gets...but he is turning 21 and June 13th is a Saturday. Pretty much every kid in the country who drinks (or wants to start) has a celebratory 21st bday party...this is not one of those things to criticize him for.

This is a kid who probably should be on campus 12 months a year. He could be working on academics, and he could be getting guidance from Mullin on improving his game, and he'd be away from bad influences to boot.

He isn't the first kid, and by far the last kid who blows his chance at both basketball and a degree.

No news was bad news in that case Monte. Nobody said anything, because nobody saw him on campus.

Enough of excusing RJ because of his age. Time to man-up and be responsible for himself. No more slack.

I'll make one educated guess: Should Jordan leave SJU, Mullin and staff will not be caught flat footed and will move swiftly to fill his roster slot.

I have no idea what the outcome will be but it sounds like SJU may be moving on without Rysheed. If that's the case our NCAA tournament hopes will take a serious hit but it is what it is. If you want to play college ball you need to make the commitment of attending 12 class hours a week.

NY Daily News - Chris Mullin Prepares for First Summer Recruiting

"The rising junior point guard would be the Johnnies’ top returning player but, as the Daily News first reported, he is expected to be ruled academically ineligible for the fall semester and may have played his last game for the Storm. Mullin gave no hints as to how it might turn out but did say "we've got some kids in summer school now and some are coming in the second session - we'll have a (Jordan) update soon." He did not say Jordan was one of the players in summer school."

It certainly sounds like Jordan is not in summer school now, which is probably the more academically challenging mini session (if they still have those). It also sounds like Jordan is deciding whether he is willing to make the effort to salvage a college career and is on the fence about coming back amid his academic problems. Reading between the lines it seems like less and less of a possibility he will be back at all.

One thing Ive learned from Sheeds time here is that you can never read between the lines with him.

Yup. Staff is excellent at contingency planning though.

Resolved in the upcoming WEEKS??? I'm all for trying to work this out for the kid but we have guys like Eli Carter, Mussini and Papagiannis sitting out there who can really help us next year. I would think that we need resolution to this sooner rather than later.

From a St. John's view, whether or not Mussini and or Papagiannis comes on Board has nothing to do with Jordan. One way or another, room will be available for one or both with Jordan or without him.

Carter is a probably a different matter as he presumably wants to go somewhere where he knows he will be a starter. His recruitment has been rather quiet and I am not sure whether or not there is interest by either party at this point.

If only he spent as much time on academics as he does posting BS inspirational quotes on twitter, he wouldn't be in the this situation. As a fan I'm tired of the excuses give the scholarship and playing time to someone who actually deserves it and wants to be here.
