Obviously it was somewhat in jest. Hampton and Leiter were awesome. Jones was very solid too if I remember correctly. Fonzie is on my Mt. Rushmore of Mets too. Everyone was clicking at the right time that year.

But…an outfield of Perez-Agbayani-Payton?! Mike Bordick at the end of his career, Ventura at the end of his career hitting .230?! That was the most overachieving team in Mets history and it was only possible because of Piazza absurd offense from the catcher position.

Obviously unfair to use modern standards/stats to these guys, but Benny's OPS+ was 122 that year. I found that absolutely shocking.

Lindor 2024 OPS is. .843. Not even in Mets top 50 !
There were 20+ seasons of a met playing 125+ games with a .900+ OPS
Wright 5 times & Piazza 4 times.

And team MVP- def yes. But the Mets wouldn’t be here without the strong years from Manea,
Severino, Peterson, butto, vientos and bounce back 2nd half from McNeil & Alonso.

Mets using bullpen mid inning changes like it's a playoff game. So far so good. Everyone doing their job.

Spoke too soon Naton has a big moment w 2 on 2 out. Came through.

Right about walks just wrong team. Sox walk 3 Mets hitters with bases loaded forcing in 3 runs. 😮

Could have been but my frustration with opening up the inning with two walks got to me; felt like a foolish post when obviously Brazoban got out of the inning with two ground balls, the last one for a double play. Complaining like that, you’d think I was a Yankee fan. 😂 Just kidding………..
Nice sweep for the Mets and a really good game for the bullpen.
 
Diaz looking a little better each night; gotta hope it is real. Day off for team before Reds while they play tomorrow afternoon and their starting pitching not much. keep the pedal down and take three.
