Mets 2024 Season

I’m uncomfortable with how this is unfolding, anytime we are susceptible to a 3 run HR taking the lead on us, with Quintana on the mound, I am nervous

Mendoza just cannot manage a bullpen. Brings in Bhutto, who is struggling, and a 3 run lead in the 9th quickly becomes tying run to the plate

Butt-o survives, Mets are 2 back with Wheeler pitching a gem tonight against Atlanta.

Also the padres lost today and the diamondbacks are losing. Not too shabby

Winning run gets to the plate but the Mets stumble into the win, ugly game, just should not have been that hard. Mets 2-11 with RISP, too often taking hittable strikes and swinging at bad pitches. On a night where the Padres and Braves lost, and the Dbacks are losing, a win is a win.

Mets only 2 out and 4 out versus AZ and SD. Arizona has a marginally tougher stretch to end the season. I am most worried about 7 versus the Phillies. I’m sure they would love to help keep us out.

Mets 4-6 hitters continue the pattern of failing with RISP. 1st and 3rd, no outs, Alonso and Winker K, Martinez skies out.

25 of the Mets last 48 outs have been by strikeout, now 27 out of 51.

Well, no matter how they got there the Mets did exactly what they needed to do. The White Sox are really, really bad. Not our problem.

7-3 on that road trip is really good. Should have been even better but hey every day is a new day.

Not quite as high on Mendoza as Zach, but there is something to be said about the resiliency of this club. Schedule gets tougher from here on, as gman said 7 games against the Phillies is no joke, but happy team is in a position for some important September baseball

As I have posted before, Mets have had a plethora of “worst loss of year” games
By the way, a month or so ago I debated a poster who insisted Alonzo was a horrible clutch hitter. I can’t remember who it was but hopefully the poster reads this, because, Alonzo has been all of that and more.
So I share with the unknown poster one of my least favorite all time phrases,
“I WAS WRONG, YOU WERE RIGHT”!

It was me and I take no pleasure in being “right” about it. He is who he is. I’d still take him back at the right price, I’m a sucker for homegrown players, but considering Boras is his agent I doubt the right price will happen.

Being in the race still is a plus. Lindor has been a godsend and so has Manaea. Have to add Vientos too. Very promising future.

Reporter: What’d you see there on that pitch that allowed you to be mobbed by your teammates?

Castellanos: a four-seam fastball.

Reporter: How’d that go?

Castellanos: I mean, you were watching the game, right?

😂😂 this is what it takes to be a reporter on ESPN after a prime-time game?? No wonder I haven’t watched this channel in a decade unless I have to.

Mets just continue to defy belief, up 4-1 in the bottom 7: Torrens leads off with a double, Lindor, Nimmo and Alonso strike out, the last 2 looking. Young gets 2 outs in the 8th walks and hits a batter. Tying run to the plate, but Dever’s grounds out.
The Mets win, 5 in a row in which they have gone 5-38 with RISP. Enjoying the heck out of the agita attached with this streak.

It’s pretty annoying that the NY Post website puts the Mets stories so far down the list while we are in a playoff race.

Missed the game last night due to a fantasy football draft I had, catching up on the highlights on YouTube, I don't think enough can be said about Lindor this year. From him hustling to score from first on Nimmo's double early, to his RBI single later on, and his consistency in the field... we have one of the best players in the league and he is playing like it, it is special to watch. And the starting pitching continues to do their job.

gotta hope form holds in tonight's game. Peterson had great August going 3-0 with era of 1.86 while Crawford was 2-4 and an era of 6.32
