Mets 2024 Season

We got one good inning from Butto but then we had to push it and send him out for the 8th

First two are on to walks… and now they take him out
 
WTH is McNeil doing? Lines up short fly ball to right field and then doesn’t throw home but wastes his time throwing to second to try to double off the runner and it wasn’t even close.

Actually, conceded the run but by not throwing home was ensuring keeping the runner on second from not getting to third with only one out. The right play IMO. I don’t think doubling the runner up entered into it at all.

Short fly ball which he actually lined up perfectly and had momentum coming in toward the plate unless he has a noodle arm uncut the throw home.

Lindor is insane. To get that kind of offense from a gold glove caliber SS is absolutely ridiculous. It reminds me of how Piazza made the World Series run possible with a beer league softball team.
 
Good win. Don’t like tonight’s pitching matchup. If this is one of those seasons of destiny Megill will find something special in himself to keep the train rolling.

We just disagree, the important run was on second, not third. Factor in Durban’s speed at third and the low percentage play is throwing home.

He should have beaten the shit out of Clemens when the broken bat was thrown at him. He may not have won but it wasn't exactly Harrelson-Rose. At that moment, the Series was lost to Roid Rage Roger and the Yankees.

I’m a die hard met fan for 50 years. Lindor is having a great season.
But MVP ?? No. Ohtani & Ozuna. 1 & 2.
Freeman, Lindor, marte & Harper should all finish in 3-6 range.
And the talk of him having best season of ANY met, even worse.

I know great defense SS should get a higher value, but my fav comparison is OPS.
Lindor 2024 OPS is. .843. Not even in Mets top 50 !
There were 20+ seasons of a met playing 125+ games with a .900+ OPS
Wright 5 times & Piazza 4 times.

And team MVP- def yes. But the Mets wouldn’t be here without the strong years from Manea,
Severino, Peterson, butto, vientos and bounce back 2nd half from McNeil & Alonso.

Ohtani and Ozuna haven’t played one game of defense all year and Ozuna is an awful base runner. He’s out in my mind. I’ve got Ohtani and Lindor 1-2 and then a big drop.

Lindor will eclipse 100 RBI playing primarily as a leadoff hitter.

His season's definitely up there but will require a strong September to push him in that upper echelon. Crazy to think what it'd be if he had a league-average first couple of months

When I think of beer league softball players, I think of Benny every time, all the time.

Ok Ozuna not top 5 maybe. But marte, freeman & Harper are not DH.
And Marte playing 2B, split time between lead off & hitting 2nd, has better avg, ops & rbi/ab than lindor

Beer league softball team, I assume you’re talking 2000 - you’re kidding right ??.
Fonzie .967 OPS crushed all 2024 Mets incl lindor. There were solid seasons too by
Zeile Ventura, Pratt (best year by a #2 catcher?)agbayini, (career year,)Payton & bell.
Al Leiter & Mike Hampton had all-star level seasons, starting 30+ games each.

Every player above would have made 2024 Mets team.

Let’s face it, all individual awards should just be named what they are, BOS (Best Offensive Stats), BPS (Best Pitching Stats), etc. That’s all you have to go by because no one can see all players enough to have a true, valid opinion.
Oh, did I ever mention I HATE individual awards in team sports?
