Mets 2024 Season

Our final 10 games are vs Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Milwaukee. We need to mop up vs Toronto and Washington and finish off the Reds. Lots of ways to look at this but we will likely need 12-8 or better over the final 20 games to bump SD, or outlast Atlanta- a typically strong finisher.

Hopefully Brewers may have locked in their playoff position before the last 3 games and will be resting up their "A" team/pitchers.

Funny to think our season may hinge on a series against Stearns’ former franchise, or, even more Hollywood, they be our playoff opponent

Mets obviously playing great ball but just helped the Reds tie a 1-0 game in the 7th with what was scored a wild pitch putting a runner in scoring position that Torrens tried to backhand instead of blocking with his body. Really good effort by Severino but tied up 1-1 after a flare dropped in for a hit.

So Maton hits the first batter he faces in a 1-1 top of the 9th and then with 2nd and 3rd one out, 1-2 count, just hangs a lollipop slider, down 3-1, law of averages catches up to the Mets.
And the streak is over after an anemic offensive showing. Need to start another one.
Braves come back to win, back to dead even.

The 7 games against the Phillies lurking continue to make me feel like we will come up a tad short. But along for the ride regardless and hoping they can sneak in

Sad news.

Sad news.
18 year career and finished at 34.

And the Mets bullpen just reverts to form, gifting again, with two hits batsmen in the 7th to start a rally and force in the tying run.
And of course the offense with one single through 7. Down 2-1.
But, the Mets retake the lead on their own rally, a walk, a swinging bunt, a walk and two wild pitches. Rally killer Alonso ended the inning by striking out swinging at 3 pitches out of the strike zone. Back to the bullpen, bottom 8, up 3-2.

Gotta be one of the uglier wins of the season, essentially winning off of two wild pitches.

The offense is a clear problem right now, it becomes so apparent when Lindor cools off, as he has this past week.

But hey, every win we can grind out here gets us one step closer

You don’t get asked to do a lot of eulogies I’m guessing?
