and JD has past “slowing down” at this point. His at bats are putrid. 70% of his swings are nowhere near the ball.

I know baseball is all about ebbs and flows, but going close to 30 innings without scoring a run in the midst of a wildcard race in August, not great. Especially when seeing what the padres and diamondbacks have been looking like. We may be in a situation where it’s one spot for 4 teams (Mets, Braves, Giants, Cards). My confidence level isn’t high. But I’ll keep rooting in hopes some of our hitters can get it going. Nimmo just got robbed of what could’ve been a breakthrough hit for him. Hell of a defensive play he was victim to

This is the JD Martinez I feared we’d get unfortunately. The mid-season JD made the whole lineup feel different. It would be great to end the season with that JD.

I smell a nice 6-3 or 7-2 run coming up and then Mets have some big head to head series with wildcard teams to control their destiny.
 
We came into the road trip .5 behind the last WC spot and leave it in the same spot.

Not saying I'm confident but I wouldn't write off our chances. We survived terrible hitting and held ground. ATL is very injured and doing worse than us.

My guess is we are 2 up on Braves on September 1st.

To be fair, we came into the road trip 0.5 GB of Arizona, and 1.0 GB of San Diego. We are now 5 games back of both. At the beginning of the road trip, we were still in the mix for either the first or second wild card spot. Now both of those spots are looking like pipe dreams.

Yes, due to Atlanta struggling, we are still in the mix, but 3 WC spots were up for grabs, now it feels like only 1 is. Our playoff odds were chopped nearly in half during the road trip, from 44% to 24%

The good news is we control our own destiny. If we can beat up on the bad teams on our schedule, and then hold our own in our remaining games against SD, ARI, and ATL, we will be right there in September. But this lineup needs to dig deep and show me something here these next 6 weeks. Because the lazy at bats I saw in Seattle will not get it done
 
Mets again gift a bad team with walks, hit batters and the big gopher ball. Just a bad team with talent. Never saw a pitching staff more afraid to throw strikes.
 
AFTER HAVING HAWK TUAH GIRL THROW OUT THE FIRST PITCH TODAY, the Mets should lose all their remaining games.

WHAT AN EMBARASSMENT AND DISGRACE.

Whoever made that organizational decision should be FIRED.

5-0 lead at home in a rubber match game against the Oakland athletics. In our situation here in mid August, this loss (if it stands) just cannot happen.

11 walks and 2 hit batsmen!! Another melt down inning from a Met pitcher gifting base runners and then a long ball. 2-11 RISP; just inexplicably poor baseball.
Lindor after last night’s game was quoted as saying the Mets played with a sense of “urgency”; I guess once was enough.
