That is all it is about, it was pretty obvious Stearns was coming here and he should be able to hire “his guy.” Buck did a great job last year but the Mets bottomed out in September and that carried over into the wild card series.And they are bringing in a new President of Baseball Ops, and he needs to have a clean slate.
This year was a disaster and Buck was part of it, certainly not his fault but he was just as certainly a part of it.
But when all is said and done, IMO Eppler was a holding pattern exec and Buck just collateral damage to the “decided upon when Cohen bought the team” future plans. This was always going to be Stearns’ organization.
