Mets 2024 Season

Mets first game demonstrated the need for a "Mercy rule" in MLB like little league--actually the Mets season is in need of a Mercy Rule. Time to cut ticket prices to minor league levels and have minor lragur promotions like 50 centhot dogs and buck beers

The Met season is obviously long over but God, can they just sever ties with Vogelback? Up 3-2, top 8, one out, Alonso on first, he hits a deep fly to right, goes into a home run trot, it hits the top of the fence and he decides to “sprint” for 2nd and gets thrown out by 437 feet. What a joke!!!

Amen--agree about VogelBAD turing a double into an out. Give him the rest of the year "off" and bring up one of the kids.

I haven’t watched much Yankees baseball all year. Nothing happening today so I turned them on. Holy crap does NY (Mets and Yankees) MLB SUCK. People are paying for this can they at least show up?

Can we just skip over baseball and get to ST. John’s basketball? I love football too but preseason football is the worst.

I did a few weeks ago :)

This season was kinda like last year for St John’s. I went into the season with really high expectations only to get round house kicked to the face with reality

For the sake of your face, let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself! I mean Nathalie has a lot to contend with already. 🙂 All kidding aside, I think we are going to have a very fun season ahead.

Wait a minute. The Mets are still playing? I thought they cancelled the remaining schedule.
Hmmmf. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the update!

Mets in Hotlanta tonight. Guys in Mets uniforms will be on the field, not sure if what they’ll be doing will qualify as playing.

Supposedly, Vogelbach is Alonso's boy...Alonso is keeping Vogelbach on the roster...

Back in the day in the NBA, there was a big white stiff center, Jack Haley, and he was someone's caddy...was he Dennis Rodman's?

Parada is back from the IL for Brooklyn and they are stacked 1-5 in the order.

Jett Williams is super impressive. The kid is hitting .328 with a .480 OBP in 20 games of A+ ball and he won’t even turn 20 until November. He’s got 4 homers, 7 doubles, and 8 steals in that span. He’s on pace to be in AAA by the end of next season.

Dam--is Ohtani good; seeing him perform for the first time and totally impressed. Not only a great hitter but incredible speed on the bases. Sorry about his pitching injury but hasn't stopped the hitting. At least they may discount the free agent money as may not get 1/2 billion contract. Would love to see Uncle Steve open the checkbook but with Pete contract around the corner.........

Caraesco pitching is miserable again--I guess that's the way the Cookie crumbles.

This team has no guts ! Why would Ohtani ever want to come here if he watched what happened last night --your best player gets hit in the head and the team goes into a shell --First batter up next inning should have been at least brushed back .

Buck was quite upset about this last night but could not say anything as to retaliation under baseball rules. It will be interesting to see if there is payback today.

Baseball, with DH now, protects pitchers from having to face "live fire" in their next at bat. Baseball needs to protect the batters by allowing umpires to throw out, without issung a warning, any pitcher who throws a dangerous pitch like the one that hit Pete last night. Also any pitcher being thrown out of a designated number of games, say 4, would be subject to a 14 day suspension so they can "relearn" how to control their pitches on the sidelines.

Rather watch exhibition football (doesn't have to involve Giants/Jets) over the Yanks.
Done watching this trash.

So you try to throw inside and miss by a bit and you can get thrown out of the game. How bout batters learning how to hit the dirt like they used to instead of digging in and swinging for the fences all the time? Willie Mays used to hit the dirt plenty. If Met hitters are tired of not being protected head out to the mound or run over an infielder or two.

Brush backs are not an issue but hitting a batter in the head or breaking a hitter's bones are the issue. Before the DH, pitchers had to face the opposition pitchers and thus knew what it was like to be hit; now they have nothing to fear from retaliation

The DH is only rivaled by replay reviews as the worst rule changes in MLB. Of course, replay is trying hard to ruin just about every sport IMO because you can absolutely NEVER get all calls right so it is nothing but extremely selective interference in game outcomes. Just my opinion.
