Mets 2024 Season

Big thumbs down to the LIRR. Yesertday for the first time in real long time I took the train from Port Washington. I dont have that app to buy the ticket so each stop I got closer I had that breathtaking dream of a free train ride. Get to Citifield stop and it's like christmas to me. Exit and go up the stairs only to get cold slapped in the face by LIRR workers checking tickets and charging without ticket basically telling me there is no Santa Claus

Been like that for awhile you Elitist scum. 😉 Someone has been ducking the joys of the LIRR. They got another 4% hike coming soon I hear. It’s literally cheaper to pay the $30 Citifield parking ransom than have to pay 3 or 4 LIRR round trips if you have a family. Makes no sense.

LIRR new motto: Gas, Ass or Grass no one rides for FREE!

LOL ! My buddy who I went to the game with lives in Port so I had Nat drive me out to Port train station and pick me up after. From huntington driving is definitely more convenient but the allure of free food and drinks was way too much so I knew better not to drive. 4 beers and 3 hot dogs at that clover lounge place then lobster roll and nathans fries delivered to our seats though today didnt seem so smart as my stomach still hurts. I feel like Vogey running the bases

A touching story about MLB Researcher Sarah Langs. Today is Lou Gehrig ALS Day around baseball. She will be honored at Citifield tonight. I was going to add/post in a thread Paultz created but it gave me the over six month warning. ⛔

Mets with another absolute anemic offensive performance through 8 tonight. Verlander battled, hitters seemingly going through the motions. 9th inning heroics needed to avoid another lackluster loss of a game and possible momentum from Philly sweep.
No heroics from the pen in the 9th seemingly sealed the loss.

Disappointing follow up to the Fillies sweep. People love to look at advanced metrics. However, sometimes it’s just simple. Alonso at .235 and Lindor at .216 is simply not good enough. Marte has also been bad. I love the young players. You just shouldn’t expect them to carry a team. High highs and low lows are part of the process.

For much of the season this team has very little consistency. One day it’s the offense, the next day the bullpen, the next day it’s the SP.

0-11 now, 1-1 bottom 8, Alonso on 2nd, 2-0 count, Marte takes two lollipop sliders for strikes and then swings at a pitch a foot outside.

Mets can’t play and manage worse, man on 2nd, top of 9, two out, Showalter decides to pitch to Guerrero with a .182 hitter on deck, predictably, Guerrero doubles, Biggio strikes out.
Mets lose 2-1

I saw Guerrero coming up 2 out and man on second. Walk him right? I was having visions of Vladdy Sr. hitting line drives off Al Leiter on pitches in the dirt or off the plate. The ultimate bad ball hitter. Why pitch to Jr there? Why? Belt was already out of the game. Robertson then blows away Biggio. Just a terrible decision by Buck.

I can’t wait to hear the explanation there because I don’t understand letting one of the best hitters in baseball beat you. Make it make sense Buck?

Keith and Ron agree with you as they were saying walk Vlad and pitch to guy who was a pinch runner--why they are good commentators.

another wasted starting effort; when Jays scored that second run, I shouted a 4 letter explative at TV. I knew the game was over as Mets have put away the bats.

Same old, same old, Mets come back from 4 down to tie it, pen immediately gives the lead back the very next inning
Unbelievable. finally getting some offense then the pitching it right back

Teetering as barely a 500 team

The Mets are “lucky” to be at .500. Not much else to say. Only thing keeping us alive is Braves haven’t taken off yet. Better not get swept in Atlanta this week.
