Mets 2024 Season

Baty, Alvarez, Vientos….LET THEM PLAY. They are better than our other options. They will have good and bad and make rookie mistakes. I’d rather watch that then pool noodle Nido Or hitless Canha.

Next up should be Ronny Mauricio. McNeil to the outfield. We need the offense. PLAY THE KIDS!

I am not kidding. The offense has been putrid. Experience doesn’t happen sitting on the bench. Sure, Baty and Alvarez have been so so. Let them keep playing. If they are players they’ll figure it out. If not, they won’t.

Mauricio is a wild swinger. Once you make peace with that, his hard contact is pretty remarkable and will only get better as he gets older and stronger.

I just find it so hard to believe this kid hasn’t been playing the outfield since the day we signed Lindor with McNeil, Baty, and Vientos ahead of him. He’s 6’3 with a rocket arm and + speed.

When was the last time the Mets developed an outfielder? I really don’t even consider Conforto since he was drafted as basically a finished product out of college and debuted in the bigs after a year,

Nimmo, even though he was drafted out of HS as an OF. But I get your point.

I think keeping Mauricio as an infielder was mainly due to trade value, which may have been an option the Mets were keeping open to improve the current roster.

Everything being equal, young middle infielders who can hit usually bring more back than an OF.

I loved watching the local Tampa TV station (WTVT) crying over this series. They were off to such a great start that they thought that they were going to go 162-0!!! LOL!!! 😜

Mauricio will never be a “high” on base guy. He has gotten somewhat better but he is known to chase so he doesn’t walk a lot. He’s still young. However, he has power and drives the ball.

He SHOULD have been playing some OF because he is athletic enough to me. Mets see it differently. Ok but he can play 2B. Move McNeil to the OF. What have we lost? Canha has been a black hole this season. Canha will not be on this team next season. Why not find out now.

Worse yet I worked at the American Stock Exchange just like Sternberg and I sure as heck don’t share his success. I missed the boat…☹️
 
These kids should have been up from the beginning and they should be playing everyday moving forward. They need better pitching which is insane considering how much their payroll is.
