Mets 2024 Season

I trust your math on the service time. Remember that both Baty and Vientos have already put in time last season as did Alvarez. I assume you are figuring that in.

The Mauricio Shot the other day was a laser. He just needs to continue to improve his eye. When he makes contact his ball jumps. A good comp for him is Alfonso Soriano. He reminds me of hi….in a good way.

As I understand it, your service clock doesn’t start until you accumulate your first full year of service time. Josh Donaldson, for example, played 14 games in 2010, didn’t play at all in 2011, and then played 75 games in 2012. He didn’t earn his first year of service until 2013 when he played 158 games. Teams would never call up prospects in September otherwise.

Buck needs to play Baty and Alvarez every day, end of story, no platoon nonsense. Pinch hitting Guillmore for Alvarez in a big spot was an underrated blunder from Buck this last series. If things aren't improving by June and Vientos/Ronny are still raking, we should say goodbye to Pham and Escobar as well. It's time for the young guys to start playing.

Maybe Verlander brings a jolt to the team. But I'm very nervous about Max, I think he's cooked. At best, he's a 3rd starter at this point. We may have to make a trade at this point.

I think Vientos will be up very soon. 3-4 tonight with a walk. He’s batting .353 with 11 homers and 10 doubles and he’s cut down his strikeout rate and has a .444 OBP. I’m not sure what more the kid can do. Mauricio probably needs another month to get reps at second. It’s crazy he hasn’t played second before this year.

Probably wise to start Guillorme at SS to give Lindor a rest and then use his last option to send him down to AAA. It’s easier than DFA’ing Escobar at this point.

I’d like to keep Pham but hands might be tied with Vientos and Vogelbach platoon at DH.

They need to bring up Vientos and Mauricio just to get some kind of jolt. Baty and Alvarez are looking good the rest are looking old.

LF is a poop show. Marte is asleep and other than Alonzo's HRs not much else going on.

Scoring 2 runs in Cincinnati is sad. Also really not a fan of the booth without G&R. K is struggling with the crew

Two things painfully obvious with the 2023 Mets, their starters can’t seem to get through any 1st inning scoreless and the offense seems to have abandoned driving up pitch counts.

I’m done watching them for a while. Until the vets get it going or get replaced by youth we are terrible.

I don’t think I have ever seen a good team go south so quickly, just bad, bad baseball. I just watched Marte go after a ball in the outfield like a little leaguer to put the Mets behind early yet again. I have to turn it off, reminiscent of watching the Johnnies last year.

I hate to say this because as much as I absolutely loved watching every minute of our team last year this year is the exact opposite. Luckily I had the knicks and rangers to divert my attention but now I'm screwed after memorial day. I'm literally not going to even look at a box score or this thread while I'm in Peru until memorial day. I'll focus my attention on Pisco Sours

Terrible play by Marte. He must have turned around three times

I'm wondering if the new pitch clock is hurting the Met hitters as they don't seem relaxed at the plate. Last year they were great at getting the opposition starters to run up pitch count very quickly; getting a lot of walks. this year K's are definitely higher and BB's are off.

YO the Muttsies lost to Patrick Frickin Corbin! He is literally the worst pitcher in MLB for the past 3 years!

Honestly they better show me something against the Rays. Win at least 1. PLEASE!!!

Vientos called up today and Guillorme optioned to AAA. Thank God he had one option year remaining.

Pham will likely be DFA’d once Mauricio is ready in June/July. Too bad, he’s a very solid veteran.

This team needs an injection somewhere. Dull and lifeless are not good words. He’ll, I’d bring up Mauricio as well. On top of that Baty, Alvarez, Vientos and Mauricio should ALL play.

Who sits? Canha, Voglebach, Catcher(!?) and 2B.
McNeil to OF, Baty 3B, Mauricio 2B, Vientos DH and AlvarezC.

I am not kidding. The offense has been putrid. Experience doesn’t happen sitting on the bench. Sure, Baty and Alvarez have been so so. Let them keep playing. If they are players they’ll figure it out. If not, they won’t.
