Mets 2024 Season

Mets with another win last night beating the SF Ex-Mets. Brandon Nimmo is having a very very good start to the season. Let’s hope he stays healthy. He is 8 for his last 10. Batting .368. A hot streak of course. But couple that with his fielding and base running he’s been one of the best players in baseball.

Pitching issues AND Marte was out too. Right now Buck is holding it together with duct tape and glue. They should get Verlander and Scherzer back around the same time. Let’s hope so.

The one thing we need to brace for is that Carrasco may be done. How much do you want to bet that those bone chips in his elbow require surgery and he's out for a long time. (He's been terrible so far this year, but last year he was very good.)

Nimmo is so much better than I thought he would be when he first came up. He's an offensive threat, and he's turned into a very good defensive CF. A credit to the Mets' player development and his own hard work.
I enjoyed Gary Cohen talking about Nimmo’s progression to the player he’s become. A few years ago I was on vacation in Savannah Georgia. The Savannah Sand Gnats were a Mets minor league team at the time. Nimmo was our #1 pick so I went to catch a game. Nimmo if I remember correctly had a hit but misjudged a couple of fly balls. Really struggled. I thought wow this kid is “overrated”. Thankfully I’m not a scout. 😂

McNeil loves jacking those bombs in SF! Those shots are begging for a breeze to get over since he launched it about 4 miles high.,

Joey Luchessi was a pleasant surprise. 7 scoreless innings. Mets now 7-1 on the California trip. Alonso is just crushing the ball 10 HRs. At 14-7 and having played the majority of our games on the road, without Verlander we really have nothing to bitch about. Good times so far!

Amen--Luchessi "Made the Giants an offer they couldn't refuse"; hit my pitch and you get hit. Seriously his performance last night was the best of any Met starter this year and Buck got to give the pen a well needed rest. Joey is also a great story with his first game in nearly 2 years after Tommy John surgery.

I rushed home for the 4PM start and must say Peterson making a good case to be moved to the Pen. Up to 8 ERA
We will see Peterson for the immediate future. I know it’s crazy but we have no one else until Scherzer, Verlander, Carrasco or Quintana comeback. All our “depth” is already on the team.

I've been so busy watching the portal that I kind of forgot about this thread! Duh!
Watching the portal threads is frustrating because everyone seems frustrated over a process that is still evolving. We have a HOF Coach who has been on the job for what 4 weeks? At least, with the Mets thread we are talking about things actually happening.

But lose another game today and we will be melting down about a 7-3 road trip.
Considering the state of the SF Ex-Mets we probably should be upset a little not taking 3 out of 4 after taking the first two. But, that’s baseball…😂

The schedule gets tough from late May through the all star break. I’d like to buffer our record before then and win these serieses. Especially with how our rotation looks
