Mets 2024 Season

I can’t believe I stayed awake to watch one of the worst baseball games I have ever seen. I actually felt sorry for one Oakland pitcher who couldn’t throw a strike. Guy belonged somewhere in A ball.

Mets got the outcome they needed but holy shit is Oakland bad. I wonder if they are Mets 1962 bad. They can hit a bit and of course they could beat Carrasco today. Total crime what they have done to the A’s. They are just angling for Las Vegas and fans are getting screwed.

That is a shocker!

I turned off at 8-3 as the A's have no pitching. I don't know if 17 walks is a ML record but its got to be close.

Best part of the broadcast was the opossum in the broadcast booth story.

Record is 18. Gary was on it the last few innings. Familia almost got us there was sad.

I stayed up too and all I could think of was " why did I stay up for this ? " lol
 
Happy the Mets won yesterday. However, watching games from a mostly empty Oakland Stadium is sad. Kind of like we went to some sort of baseball purgatory.

I have the baseball package and you watch all these games with beautiful stadiums and excited fans and then you turn on the game from Oakland. A few sad looking fans banging drums, plays on the field met with dead silence, you can even hear individual players and fans Conversations. What MLB has done here is embarrassing.
 
Here is awesome story. Our own Traczok and his family are huge met fans who live in Cali. One of his sons is at a bar wearing an Alonso Jersey and someone taps him on he back and says hi. Pete Freaking Alonso !!!

I just hope they put him in the lineup and let him play. Same with Alvarez. Neither Escobar or Nido are good enough to block anyone. Give him playing time and let’s see what they’ve got.
 
Just cut Escobar. Yeah, yeah….great clubhouse guy…the Mets have a bunch of those. The last month and a half of last season is the only reason he’s still around.

And…mini-rant…bring up Mauricio, bring up Vientos. There’s enough comraderie, leadership and producers (ie Alonso, Lindor, Marte, Nimmo, etc) to offset any kind of jitters or early slumps. The reason the Braves keep winning is because they infuse their prospects with the veterans and very rarely skip a beat. Trust the kids.

Disagree on Escobar. He is a professional. He is versatile and he is popular in the clubhouse. Is someone you want on your team. Does not mean he has to be starting third basemen and block Batty, but will have an important role.

I understand his importance in the clubhouse, but imo, there’s enough guys in that clubhouse like that to make up for the emotional loss. He has sucked for the majority of his contract bar that month or so.

I think they need to keep the 13 pitchers with all their injuries. I believe Butto may start the last Dodgers game as they talked about adding a sixth starter occasionally. That may be Luchessi and not Butto but they would just swap relievers. This is going to be a hitter. I think it's Locastro also but is there a slim chance they could cut Escobar? I would be surprised if they sent Guillorme down.
