Mets 2024 Season

I think they need to keep the 13 pitchers with all their injuries. I believe Butto may start the last Dodgers game as they talked about adding a sixth starter occasionally. That may be Luchessi and not Butto but they would just swap relievers. This is going to be a hitter. I think it's Locastro also but is there a slim chance they could cut Escobar? I would be surprised if they sent Guillorme down.
Yeah, not sure. One thing, Guillorme is going nowhere. Buck loves him. I think it’s between LocAstro and one less pitcher OR the mysterious DL stint for someone. I don’t see them cutting Escobar just yet. Heck, he’s starting TODAY. Who knows? They could send Butto down after the game and delay the decision until the next time (Thursday?) this spot comes up in the rotation?

Just cut Escobar. Yeah, yeah….great clubhouse guy…the Mets have a bunch of those. The last month and a half of last season is the only reason he’s still around.

And…mini-rant…bring up Mauricio, bring up Vientos. There’s enough comraderie, leadership and producers (ie Alonso, Lindor, Marte, Nimmo, etc) to offset any kind of jitters or early slumps. The reason the Braves keep winning is because they infuse their prospects with the veterans and very rarely skip a beat. Trust the kids.

Butto is starting today so who knows temporarily but long run I can't see them going with 12 pitchers so probably ultimately LoCastro.

Turned off after mets took lead in the 7th--couldn'tbear the thought of the bullpen trying to hold for 3 innings but I was nicely surprised. Gotta get a starter to go 7 innings as they are killing the pen with overuse.

Gary mentioned on the Broadcast that Mets starters have gone 6 innings only 18% of the time. League average is I think he said 35%. Someone can correct me if I heard that wrong . I was fading at that point. 😴 So you are spot on. Peterson went 6 but…he also gave up 6 runs and that’s not good.

Things are getting sticky in Queens.
Max/Buck quite pissed off at this scenario. Max says it was sweat and rosin; changed glove when Ump first questioned it in 2nd inning. He used alcohol to clean hands. Sounds like he and team are fighting any suspension.

I really think this whole thing with "tack" is ridiculous. I mean are umps experts in what rosin does when it interacts with sweat? You know the week they banned these things Tyler Glasnow was injured and needed Tommy John because he was overthrowing due to not being able to get a correct grip. Was he using some crazy substance? Suntan lotion. There are obvious instances of cheating with the stuff but it has gone way too far.
