Mets 2024 Season

Yeah wind is the problem. Although there have been worse days. I went to the 1985 Gary Carter walkoff game and I will say I was happy he hit the HR but was happier to leave Shea that day. It was worse than a football game.
I remember going to my first NFL game at Shea. I swore that I would never go to another NFL game again! 🥶

Coldest I have ever been at a baseball game, which is why I was sitting at the bar at Sly Fox Inn when Carter hit his Home Run ! My buddy and I lied about it for years saying we were there when we left after the sixth inning.

Ahhh, the cold wind sweeping in from Flushing Bay carrying the aroma of jet fuel and PCBs.

Nothing like opening day in Queens!

SAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ALCANNNNNTRRRRAAA!!!!

Should be a 1-0 game but the baseball Gods are funny...13-11 Muttsies!

Old man God rest his soul was a batting practice to end of game type of guy. I was 19 at the time but he drove. I think I bought one of those charcoal roasted pretzels walking to the car so I could rub it on my fingers which I could no longer feel.

I went to Packers/Jets in 1980 or 81. (Packers fan) I swear I still have medical issues from that game. I failed a chemistry mid term test on Monday because I didn‘t study I needed to thaw out and was too confidant. It was the last game of the season and Jets absolutely annihilated my Packers. I think it was like 9 sacks or some kind of record. The GB QB that day was Lynn Dickey. A few years ago I was in GB and met him in a bar. I asked him about his memories of that game and he just shivered. He got hit so many times that day I told him I was surprised he could still walk. The wind at Shea made Lambeau Field a picnic.

I was at that game and brought a bunch of friends from work who were on our international exchange program. We sat in the centerfield "Bleachers" that they put up for football and it was terrible cold. It was the w/e before Christmas. I warned everyone to dress extra warm. One of the guys from Glasgow thought wearing his PJ's under his Jeans would do but by 4th quarter he was just sitting there almost frozen to the seat. Some women fell and broke her leg in the bleachers but fans were going crazy as the Jets were ripping the Packers and EMS couldn't get to her until game was over. We thawed out on the 7 train to Jimmy Day's back in the Village and then did substantial damage to the booze.

That game was December 1981. The Jets win put both the Jets and Giants in the playoffs for the first time in a long time. You will see highlights of that game in August when Joe Klecko gets inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

The called second strike on McNeil because Alonso did not get back to 1st after running on a foul ball is the most stupid, BS call I have ever seen in Baseball. McNeil came back at 0-2 and grounded a ball for a base hit scoring Marte and sending Pete to third. And knocking Alcantara out of game as Mets and Mad Max lead 3-0 going into bottom of 6th.

Exactly the stupid nonsense we get when we give umpires or officials too many rules to enforce. Pete walked back to 1st. I would love to see the rule where you need to run. Ridiculous.

Knocked my Packers out as well. They finished crappy 8-8.

Might’ve gone to Ottavino here but Robertson is the experienced guy. Just as I say that they show the stupid Diaz injury. 😡
