So far we've lost our closer, Diaz, in a World Baseball win celebration and Jose Quintana is also gone for the season with an injury. Ruf was cut. Vogelbach was resigned. So far we'er the same old Mets. A mess!!!With all the SJU news and my bandwidth being what it is, I've barely paid attention to spring training.
How fairs The Metropolitans?

Greg, I share a lot of your concerns but… the Mets did win 101 games last year. A mess might be a little harsh. Of course, I don’t think, as presently constituted they addressed where we failed last year. We just might take a step back and win 95 games. We sure as heck are going to need a better trade deadline this year.So far we've lost our closer, Diaz, in a World Baseball win celebration and Jose Quintana is also gone for the season with an injury. The Mets couldn't keep him. I agree the solution isn't much better. Would prefer Vientos be the DH against lefties and eventually against everyone but we will have to wait. If they love LoCastro so much there is no need for Pham.Farewell Darin Ruf. This is good but the Mets totally failed to address the team’s glaring weakness at DH. Voglebach and Pham ain’t it.
Exclusive | Mets give up on Darin Ruf after disastrous run with team
The Mets have accepted failure with their trade for Darin Ruf by designating the righty hitter for assignment, The Post has learned.nypost.com
Yeah, I don’t understand not bringing up Vientos To be the right handed DH. He has NO real position so what’s the point in sending him back down. He will never be the Mets 3B (Baty will) and 1B is of course blocked. They should be having Mauricio and Vientos working in the OF but they refuse to do that. Locastro and Jankowski are the same player. Good field, no hit, good speed. They could’ve just brought him back. The Mets couldn't keep him. I agree the solution isn't much better. Bill, I have been a Mets, St. John's, and Islanders fan for far to many years to have a rose outlook!Greg, I share a lot of your concerns but… the Mets did win 101 games last year. I love football but it's a good thing that I'm not a fan of any one team. If I was, I'd probably end up being a Chicago Bears fan!Greg, gonna be a long season. We gotta bitch about something. I do think they will make a trade or two along the way and promote guys after a couple of months or injury. Just seems all that money was spent and in my mind they did not address the biggest issue. They know it, Cohen tipped his hand with his Correa (one more thing) comments.
The Mets and St. John’s are in a good place. Not perfect but..The Islanders? Yikes. Can’t help you there but I am a Boston Bruins fan and life couldn’t be better at least until the playoffs!
Mike, I love your new picture!!!Mods can we change thread title now to "Mets 2023 Season " ?
Let's play ball !
Greg, Don’t talk to Mjmaherjr anymore. He’s an elitist. Why last year we went to Citifield and he had the Foie Gras and liver pate. Meanwhile I was crushing a Polar Bear Burger. Guy was sipping IPA‘s with a straw. Word is out on this guy.Mike, I love your new picture!!!
That Piazza lounge foie gras was legit. The straw with the IPA was strictly to get a quicker buzz thoughGreg, Don’t talk to Mjmaherjr anymore. He’s an elitist. One of the few things that I miss about NY.Oh yeah afternoon Mets baseball. Definitely.
Yeah wind is the problem. Although there have been worse days. I went to the 1985 Gary Carter walkoff game and I will say I was happy he hit the HR but was happier to leave Shea that day. It was worse than a football game.Thank God they open in the road.
Today would've been brutal at Citi.
