Marquette Game Thread

If PC beats Creighton, they have 3 all alone and we play Xavier. If PC loses, I believe they go to a coin flip to break the tie with Xavier.

I believe (after head-to-head, which was split) you keep moving down the list of teams, and Providence and Xavier's record against them. You start from the top, and move down. I believe it would come down to the fact that Xavier swept us, where as Providence only split.

That's what I believe it comes down to.

No, Xavier is 3 seed in a 3 team tie since they won 3 games combined against us and PC. PC won 2 and we won among these 3 teams, so PC gets 4 seed and we get 5

it comes down to opening a can of whuppp azzz in the be tournament cause stone cold seezzz so .... shut your mouth jabroni sju will win the be tournament..

We all get upset at times about the play of our team and decisions of the coach. The more important the game, it seems the more shrill are the posts every single time someone makes a mistake. Effectively, many of the posts cross into a kind of long-distance name-caling. This team is two games over five hundred at the season end because they were dysfunctional the first four months of the season. Given what they accomplished since then, they aren't pathethic, stupid, incompetent, embarassments to the schoold, or the worst "fill in the blank in our history."

I criticized the coach like many others for not playing Jordan early in the year enough and for the constant rotating of
bench players for major minutes. He has made plenty of mistakes. I am as frustrated as anyone by the missed foul shots and the unfocused turnovers. But proclaiming over and over again that the game is lost when there is plenty of time left betrays the effort to sound informed as mere petulant whining. Reiterating that some individual should never be on the floor or coach a high school team etc isn't a sports critique the 12 th time its repeated in the same game; and attacking other posters because they haven't crapped in their diapers with you in mid-game but are trying to retain some hope is what makes this site less and less engaging.

I would suggest each of us go back and read your own posts throughout the last game. See if you came across as a
nervous fan, or even temporarily upset at showing a bit of frustration, or did you come across as a sarcastic, self-righteous, condescending know-it-all. It might be more instructive than anything anyone else can say to you and it might make the Big East tournament threads a lot more incisive.

Yes, I forgot about us being SWEPT by them. You are correct.

Providence will loose tonight so were gonna see them Thursday. We beat them then we play nova, I'm pretty confident we can beat them, no way we loose 3 in a row to them. We go dancing after that win against nova

Let's admit...there was panic at the end of regulation. Jordan's play...Sanchez missed first shot of a one and one...even the ref blew the Obekpa call and fouled him out. That was the biggest choke of all. Fans have a right to say that.

Still, I defy anyone to argue this team didn't show major sized onions in the two OT's against a good, well coached team that was fighting for its life at home on senior day.

Correct. I erred before, but my solution was still the right one.

Man I can't watch some of these games, big cause of stress.

2nd OT we ended I think 3 possessions with GG at the line... I could not watch.

I put my head in my hands with 1 min left down 3 and hear nothing but net and the silence of the crowd ensues. Press the 10 second rewind button and see DLO drill one from 30 feet out. For all his faults I knew when that shot hit we were not going to lose. Phenomenal display of confidence

For all his faults? He's our clutch player and leader whether you like it or not. He again played a very sound game today, totally under control. I really was hoping he would attempt more drives in overtime, especially since the Golden Eagles were in double bonus foul trouble.

Two things I have to mention in our favor. Buzz kept Barton on the bench in the second half. Apparently I think more of Barton's ability then Williams. Secondly, please tell me that Williams didn't set up D. Wilson to take the final shot. Thank you anyway.

I was about to post something of the same effect. It's shocking that certain grown men on here have no control of their emotions. Reading this thread and some of the disgusting things that were said at low points in the game is embarrassing.

As GG stepped to the line yet again, I wondered what he was thinking, and then I remembered this story.

Pedro Guerrero was a horrible third baseman (who could hit like mad). After a game where he made another huge error, Tommy Lasorda calmly asked him in front of the team, "Pedro, what are you thinking about out there before the ball is hit to you?"

Guerrero paused and said "Well, first I pray that they don't hit the ball to me. Then I pray they don't hit it to Steve Sax either."

I was thinking of all our bad FT shooters.
