Lovett

Beast, wait, so the staff is ‘open’ to him coming back next year? Damn, I hope not. IF they’re ‘open’ to him coming back and he’s healthy—have him come back this year to help salvage our Season. Then he can go out on an up note after this year.

I think you may already know this, but Mullin and St. Jean, Matt too - are not pushovers. I have a feeling that if Lovett does decide to come back, there will be some expectations.

He can't salvage anything this year in regular season conf games, if he wants to salvage it, then come back 2-3 weeks before season ends, get in game shape, and at the least get to the championship game in the B.E.
Unrealistic, oh well. That's the only way he can salvage this season.

Paultz.. PM me.

After you two insiders are done comparing notes, please let us know if either of you have changed your view (i.e. Paultz of the belief that LoVett is done and Beadt suggesting there is a chance he’ll come back). You’re leaving me in suspense. ;)

To a non-insider like me, it sure appears that they recruited Dixon & Williams based on understanding Marcus wouldn't be coming back even before the injury fiasco. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'd be shocked if there is any chance he comes back.

I have no inside info whatsoever, but I think there is a better chance we win the Big East Tournament than LoVett coming back.

Think about this shocking truth. If he came back and we won 6 of 9 games and pulled ahead of .500, we could get an NIT bid. Crazy but possible.

Now I'm not at odds with paultz on this but I spoke to someone about as close to the situation as possible and was told its not done yet. Still think its unlikely tho

Wait, are you saying there’s a possibility he can come back this season?

Now on the subject of Lovett was told that he is incredibly strong for his size and covered the paint to the wings better than anyone on the team. Actually was told his presence on defense was as or more important than his offense, and that his speed made us a very dangerous fast break team.

When you think of how our fast break has sputtered and all the open threes since he went down this underscores what a huge loss he is.

He is not coming back , no if’s buts or ands about it.
What Paultzman wrote is crystal clear.

Not doubting your source, but I'd say him not being on the bench even at home games any longer speaks volumes.

Was at the game tues and was told by someone close to the team that after the dads comments he was told to " distance himself" from the team, Aka games, practices.

You're too funny Beast!:p
He hasn't been practicing with the team. As far as winning 6 of 9 games, I would be estatic but I would say that if all three injured players (Ponds, Yawke and LoVett) were as healthy as they were in November we still wouldn't win 6 games. Maybe four but 14 wins wouldn't be enough for the University to waste funds to compete in post season lower tourneys. Of course I hope we can upset our opponents in every game.;)

It seems like this situation though unfortunate had to play out like this. Once Lovett's father came out and declared him done for the season it seems like the following decisions where made:

1. St. John's would continue to aid him rehabbing his knee and quietly let his scholarship run out.
2. Marcus would no longer be with the team.
3. Everyone will keep quiet and shake hands and say goodbye at the end.

It's like a break up, but the real feelings are being hidden to protect the kids.

Until next season the only way to enjoy a STJ game maybe to do this.

Bet STJ to cover the spread
Bet the over
Bet the following props
Opponent to shot +40% from 3
Opponent to have a +10 rebound margin
STJ to have a +5 TO margin

No i wasn't implying that thete is any probability of that happening. Only replying that mathematically possible, and perhaps even achievable if we were at full strength.

I don't know if there were any directives telling Lovett to stay away, and if so by who. He seemed to be supportive on his Twitter account though.
