Lovett

Marcus LoVett tells us he’s not sure if he will be back at @StJohnsBBall next season. Said he’s not sure what will happen.

Baffling ‘development’. File under ‘who the hell knows’ and ‘be careful what you wish for’.

Mullin’s answer in presser was equally baffling. Alluding to LoVett resolving his “medical condition.” Are we sure he’s not really seriously injured. Very strange.

Too bad kid doesn't have a change of heart and beg Mullin and the team to take him back. What 21-22 year old still listens to their father. If I listened to mind would never have become an attorney and if Phil Knight listened to his father he never would have become a billionaire sneaker king.

Cool, let him come off the bench. Dixon hasn't screwed the team yet so he starts. Actually, Trimble hasn't screwed us yet either, so ML should also be behind him on the depth chart.

Lovett presence is baffling.

Lovett's father's decision to have his son not return following the injury hurt St.John's but had greater negative repercussions for his son.

Marcus' value would have been enhanced had he had a very good game today on national television.

Crazy, but is it remotely possible that LoVett returns this year? Could one read that being a possibility from Mullin’s comments? Or was Mullin alluding to next year—which to me, is problematic. Few before the season—including the staff—expected him back next year. What would Mikey Dixon’s reaction be that LoVett would play next year?

We have to stop with the narrative about Lovett coming back.

HE’S NOT COMING BACK.

NOBODY WANTS THIS.

-Mullin wants him gone
-His father wants him gone
-They’re playing P.R games with the media.

Lovett doesn’t want to look like he quit. And Mullin doesn’t want to look bad with recruits.

-HES NOT COMING BACKKKKKKK!!

Mikey Dixon's not going anywhere so I wouldn't worry about his reaction.

Everyone at SJU appropriately saying right thing. Plain and simple from what I hear, however, is LoVett will not be back,

This makes most sense as to what's going on

wonder what kind of BB shape Lovett is actually in. Either he's still getting free rehab from trainers, or somehow he's playing hoops somewhere in his free time. Would a Euro team hand him a contract without a tryout ?

+1000 - Let's move on from this and look forward to the new recruits/redshirts and the core from the team who have fought through this season.,

I'll say this: you could play 15 years in the NBA, or anywhere you get paid around the globe, and not experience what happened today
His loss. We live by our chlices.

Very confusing situation. It's hard to really imagine what's going on, or why Mullin is even allowing him to stay around the program. We might never know the truth, but just another in a long line of strange situations at St. John's.

He's allowing him to stay around and making the comments he's made for optics reasons only. There is no downside - message board speculation isn't downside - and it sends a positive message to recruits, their families, their advisors, etc.

Very very unlikely he comes back. Mullin & Lovett had a meeting this week -per Zach B. You would think Chris is tired of the questions. He probably told Marcus to be part of the program he needed to be at games, meetings etc....... It’s obvious marcus’s dad is pulling the strings. Not too mention trolling #sjubb twitter. It’s too bad.

This whole Lovett situation is incredibly confusing. If he does not come back, where exactly is going next year? Is a Euro team really going to fork over big $$ on a guy who is seemingly so injury-prone?

Despite the PR games being played by his father, I'd freakin' love to have him back next year if he can stay healthy.

His dad continues on the tweet binge

This newest one references how SJU has study abroad program in Italy

Weird stuff....

Are we really in a deal w/ him to keep him in program until semester ends to not get APR ding and in return he gets college credits and tries to look good for euro teams?

Can't imagine he's not getting on court to stay in shooting shape during all of this
